back at the end of jan i decided to change my aygo for a new yaris. picked a 1.3 t3 in vivid blue. was told del would be 26th feb to i opted for a 1mar 06 del for new reg. was told mon gone theres a delay he said it was stuck in factory in derbyshire(i thought they were made in france ?) awaiting some cosmetic parts he mentioned wing mirrows as a example. i just phoned them today and they still no idea chap said around a week, it could be april for all they know. whats the point in advertising cars that are not available bigsmall more like big lies small customer satifaction. the salesman even had the cheek to say it would be filled up i had already been promised at full tank when i ordered it

uk toyota site has no email addy to complain any1 know it

I'd arrange to meet them face to face at the dealership and mention that you're considering cancelling your order. It won't make the car come off the factory belt quicker but it might give the dealership a kick up the backside so they at least chase it for you and get a date.

You're spending a considerable amount of money here, so make them work for it ;)

The main Toyota factory in Derbyshire supplies parts and stuff, so they are quite right that it could be there....

I can understand your anger, however it is to be expected of a brand new model and Toyota should have made this clear for you - its like when the Mini came out - they didnt have enough to supply demand so there were 6-9 month waiting lists for people even up to 2003 (I should know, I enquired about buying one!)

You should speak to your dealer, relay your concerns, but ranting at them isnt going to make your car appear any quicker - everyone experiences delays like this with new cars! Just be calm, cool, dont shout at them or rant, just say, like Caz said "I'm not very happy, I'm thinking of cancelling my order and going elsewhere" and lets face it - they dont want a customer to leave them, especially not the sales person, whos commission is based on your good word in the satisfaction questionnaire!

You can also contact Toyota customer care on 0845 275 5555 or their address is:

Toyota (GB) PLC

PO Box 746

Sunderland

SR9 9XF

Good luck - hope you get your car soon!

I know exactly how you feel, I am in the same boat. I ordered my 1.4 d4d mmt t-spirit back in first week of jan. Was originally told it would be ready for 3rd March, this shot up to 31st May and has now come back to 31st March. Really unhappy about it but not the garages fault, all they do is apologise, don't think I'm going to get anything out of them for the delay either!

Demonic, you can't just cancel your order like that as its a legally binding contract between you and the dealer. I checked all this out as I was going to cancel my order as I was p****d off waiting and took legal advice and basically said if I pulled out the law would be on the garages side as theres a load of small print that covers them. However I have a delivery date of march 06 on my order and if it goes beyond that I can get out of it then as they haven't fulfilled their side of the deal. However I could still have a fight to get my £500 deposit back.

Yes I am aware of that, having bought two new cars myself from Toyota and reading the small print.... ;)

However, it doesnt hurt to try and play on that fact to the dealer, its a natural thing to say when your angry and you dont have something that you have paid for to go elsewhere, I understand that legally you can't do that, however if the delearship knows you are unhappy - well bad word of mouth and negative responses in the satisfaction questionnaire is the last thing they want, so expressing you are dissatisfied may help you get somewhere quicker!

The satisfaction questionnaire determines how much commission the salesman gets, if its negative, he/she gets nothing, so they will really want to make you happy... if you catch my drift...

If the product doesn't match the specification though, and the order date is long gone, then the dealership are pushing it, and you could cancel the order, but you'd probably wind up entangled in all sorts of legal mumbo jumbo!

Get down there, and get angry!

From what I've heard it sounds like all the new Yarii are affected? It's not something that Toyota could foresee obviously and I'm not denying that but think of the service you are receiving from the dealer during the hold up, is that really poor?

When I was getting the Yaris Blue (a year ago to this day actually) they fitted air-con in for free as part of the deal but they lied and told me it was getting air-con fitted before they gave me a pick-up date, then suddenly the guy was sick and it hadnt even been started and the car was sitting at the garage doing nothing so I picked it up and they had it back for a few hours two weeks later. They also never kept me informed of what was going on, all I wanted was a phone message/quick call but they couldnt even do that :ffs:

spoke to them today and they say still no date but hes phoning monday hopefully with a date. he said they are stuck in derbyshire awaiting parts. they do a intense pdi there and some parts are missing, the corolla are missing rear spoilers lol oops ive forget to put spoiler on kinda major over sight

i find working in retail myself as soon as customer becomes angry they lose all rights to help so find remaining calm is best bet then they more likely to help and get it to me as quick as possible.

Yep indeedy - I can agree with that coming from a retail background - you always want to help nice people more than those who are angry at you for whatever reason!

Hope you get your date tomorrow!

Sounds like nothing has changed in the last 2 years. We ordered a Yaris D4D in Jan 2004. Got a call to say that the car ordered was stuck on a boat somewhere between Japan and England, with no known delivery date.

Dealer said they could supply either a Black or Silver car - same model. As both were metallic and I had requested a solid colour, they included the paint protection package at no charge. Also as they could not supply on the due date, they supplied a courtesy car for two weeks. Full marks to the dealer for this.

BUT, the car is a nightmare, and I will never have another Toyota. It is booked in for the dealer to have another attempt to stop the engine miss-firing and cutting out at low speeds.

It has taken a letter to Toyota GB to get the dealer to investigate the problem.

Perhaps we wouldn't have had a problem if Toyota had been able to supply the car ordered in a reasonable time!

We are so fed-up with not knowing if the car will stop that we have ordered it's replacement - less than 24 hours before Toyota GB replied to my complaint - TOO LATE!
