I Love The New Yaris!

Depsite manyh people saying the opposite I love the new yaris! Compared to the old one, which I test drove back in the summer of 2005 I think its way better. As you may or may not know, I ordered a d4d mmt without driving one and was getting worried as read so many bad reports about it. However my local garage have just got one in and I took it out this afternoon and I really liked it. Granted it drives better in manual mode than auto mode but its a good gearbox and a lovely car. Really can't wait to get it now, 4 weeks and counting!

Good for you...

I think they're cracking, the 1.0 engine isnt great, but the 1.3 is fab and the space in them is brilliant, like a Tardis....

People are so afraid of change and evolution, a lot of the people who slate them havent even driven one, but they are a totally different class of car, more grown up, I suppose it depends on what you're after - and if your after a Yaris Mk2, well good on ya mate, kudos to you!

Make sure you post up some pics when you get yours! ;)

You're right it is like a tardis the room in the back is incredible and that was with the front seats fully back. In retrospect I wouldn't have ordered the diesel it is really noisey, especially compared to the diesel micra I have currently and I thought that was noisey!!

I havent yet driven the diesel.... but I suppose like with most diesel engines, once they get going they become quieter...

We had a diesel Corolla and that sounded like a tractor for the first 10 miles or so and then it quietened down.... or maybe that was us getting used to the sound of the engine.... I'm not sure!

The 1.3 engine can also be a bit on the noisy side, especially on the motorway I found, but whether its less or more than the diesel.... I couldnt say....

So, is the 1.3 noisier than your own car on motorways, Em? Let's face it, the phase 1 and 2 Yarii are hardly quiet!

See I would say it was.... but it was probably down to the fact that I have my music on in my car and although I did in the new Yaris too, it wasnt half as loud!

But yeah it just felt really loud at 70 on the M69, a little louder than my car, but in all honesty, not a completely fair test!

Thanks. Not a great fan of the car but I'm keeping an open mind.

I'd recommend any Yaris owner takes one out for a jolly, just to see what its like....

I mean its all well and good saying "Its crap", but unless you've actually driven it, how can you justify saying that? (Thats not directed at you by the way Al, just generally! ;) )

I don't find the P1 or P2 Yarii noisy at all, tonight I was driving back from Hospital with 3 passengers on the Dual Carriageway and we had the radio off going at 70 mph and it was really quiet. Yet if we had been in my Dad's Fiesta the noise would've been terrible.

I agree with Em about not being able to comment about the driving side of it if you havent driven one, but going on the looks alone I and a good few others on here just arent big fans of it

Wahey! A New Yaris owner!

Don't worry too much about the diesel engine - it is a little noisy at idle, but once you're underway and at motorway speeds then you can't really hear it. The other thing to note is that it does take about 10,000 to 15,000 miles for the diesel engine to "free off" properly, so don't be worried if it feels a bit sluggish to start with.

I'm waiting for the diesel demonstartor to get to my Mr T of choice before I get a shot

Anyhow, let us know how you get on...

Alan
