Noises......

Hi all,

Has been a while since I posted but I was hoping I could get some advice on some worrying noises....

Ok at the moment I'm selling my BEAMS(dont want to but House/Mrs forcing sale) but as of late it has developed 2 very distinct noises....

The first noise I presume is the usual SSS problem but it is more of a sweeking noise(right side only) when going over a speed-bump/pot-hole(very bad roads in Ireland)I dont seem to have a knocking noise(yet)...This noise comes and goes but for the last week it seems to be non-stop...again if it rains the noise disappears....weird :ffs:

If this is the SSS issue will this be ok to drive for a while or would that have a knock on effect and cause other components to fail??

The second noise I'm getting at the moment is within any gear between 3000-3500Rpm. It a metalic rattling sound from the middle of the engine bay. I thought it might be the heat shield on the exhaust but it feels very secure. There is no lack of performace...she still goes as good as ever....

Any ideas appreciated.....I attached a few pics of my baby....

Very nice looking car. Shame you have to sell her. Can`t help you with the suspension other than to say it`s probably a bush somewhere. Gets lubricated by the water when it rains. I had a MG Metro once that did it all the time. The rattle could be a heat shield under the car. Bodywork can and does often deflect the sound so you may think it`s coming from somewhere else.

the sound is almost like an old floor-board sweeking when I go around a corner...really strange...

It rained this morning on the way to work and noise is almost gone...hopefully nothing major...
