Where Can I Buy (used) Genuine Toyota Alloys?

:help:

Hi,

I recently bought my first Celica, a 2001 190, and I am loving it (much more fun than the previous Audis and Beemers that I've had.)

I am looking for some 17 inch alloys as it currently has the standard 16 inch on but can't seem to find many used sets around - not even on e-bay. I would prefer genuine Toyota wheels but I'm open to suggestions.

Any ideas??

Cheers

From what's been said on here, I think some people have had trouble with the Toyota 17" wheels. They seem rather weak and susceptible to buckling. You're probably better off getting something else, unless you find a set really cheap.

 thaks very much Mike for that. I know that the Toyota alloys in general suffer from bad bubbling etc but wasn't aware of the buckling. I will have a look around but don't want anything a bit bling.

Cheers

I have just put a set of 18" twin blades on my Celica, wanted something smart but not Chavvy, £500 for the set.

i have the venoms in my garage, one of the wheels was the wrong offset to the others, but with the spacers provided it made the 3 fit the fourth if you know what i mean. However, due to the spacers they wont fit on a celica as the studs out of the wheel hubs isnt long enough to go through the spacer and wheel to fit the nut on so i got those ones. I got a bit cheaper than normal due to the company messing up on some alloys i bought on eBay but they didnt have in stock so they gave me a good price. However, i think they are £560 Stock with 225/40r18 federals fitted. www.leightyres.co.uk

The venoms will fit a golf mk3 GTi or mk4 golf though as they use studs that screw into the hub rather than nuts so they go through everything so i am going to flog em on eBay soon. Shame really as the tyres are all but new!

The Toyota 17s in general are ok. Mine buckled quite severely, but thats because I didn't see a pot-hole with the equivelent size of driving square on in to a pavement at about 50 (no wonder they bent!). In general they were good wheels, although they were VERY heavy.

If you get new, go for a reputable after market set. If you want second hand, you may get lucky with eBay, or check out CelicaClub For Sale / Wanted, as they keep popping up on there...

Looking very nice!

Just bought some 17 inch team Dynamic alloys but now I've seen yours wish I'd got some 18's.

Never mind, got the 17's at a really good price so I'd better be happy with them or the missus will start moaning (again)

Cheers

hehe cheers!

:D

I’ve been wondering what size tyres to put on my 17 inch rims, and had considered 225/45/17 as I think the arches look quite big and could do with filling out.

I’ve asked the question on the forum already regarding tyre size and got some very good responses, explaining what the numbers mean etc. From this I’ve worked out that my current 16 inch alloys with 205/50/16 tyres are 605mm in diameter, but even with the 17 inch wheels, a 215/40/17 would actually be smaller overall (wheel and tyre) than my current set up (??)

I considered 225/45/17 but wanted to make sure they’d fit – as you’ve got 225/ 18’s can you tell me if they fit without any problem at all?

Cheers
