The standard turbo cant create enough power to blow the standard pistons... its more a case of 'what can the turbo take' Most people say 1.1bar is highest safe boost or 1.2bar with WI.

I think im right...

to be fair 1.2 isnt that safe. it all depends on age and condition of the engine, grade of fuel availiable. personaly id stick to 1.1bar and add water injection too. the std turbo is more than capable of blowing std pistons. the more boost it runs the higher the intake temp and the nearer to det you get. infact a std turbo is more likely to cause det that a hybrid runing the same boost and more power

get saving and get a set of forgies in there bung on a nice turbo ,a set of 850cc injectors and ind up the boost :P

Its one that is recommended by Ian who runs Toyauto. Some guy had it fitted and said it is unbeliveable.

£1000 for a sports clutch fitted. Ive heard its a real long job.. like 9hours

If your a member of gt4oc i will try find the link for ya?

£1k for a clutch lol thats shocking, nice one for forking out though.

Is it advisable to get a boost controller?

Bear in mind that a sports clutch is likely to be an on/off type of clutch. Not one that you want to use if in traffic.

a boost controller is a good idea if your after a bit more power. 1.1 bar would be the most i would run, and even at that i wouldn't run it at that pressure all the time.

£1000 for a sports clutch fitted is a great price as a sports clutch is usually above £6-700 so considering how big a job it is £3-400 labour is nothing

clutch requires the engine and transmission to be removed and yes it can be a pain.

the clutch ian reccomends is a complete 4 paddle cerametalic plate and competiton cover, good for about 470ftlbs IIRC. it also includes a light weight fly wheel. ian tends to turn these round in about 9 hrs but it depends on how much of a pig the engine is to get out (things like lots of non std wires through the engine loom grommet dont help). bear in mind that toyota will quote about 11hrs labour for it it dont work out too bad.

welcome to the world of the gt four (AKA moneypit)
