Hello folks

Mainly Gen 6 owners can you please advise?

Under the stereo you have your heater controls and other stuff, is there anyway that you can change the bulbs in them?

As i have blue dash lights and them lights are green and look very odd

Many Thanx, Kirstie :)

replace the 2 bulbs with super bright 289 t's - and leave the leds green if you desire .

theres a much easier way....

u can buy some special plastic thingymajic (dunno wat its called!...doesnt help does it!!) and simply place it over the bulb...and thats it!

i did that and now all my interior lights are red....simply by covering the bulbs...

and as far as i know it has no side effects...iv had mine done for over 6 months now and everythings fine

hope that helps!

I want red lights, or VW Blue would be nice. Thing is Im lazy about things like that plus dashboards never go back the same once taken out, then the nasty rattles start!

I had to take my centre console out to fit a stereo FFS!

Mine doesn't rattle. Been out a few times now. As long as you don't snap all the clips of it'll be fine. That's the good thing and gen 5 and 6s - they are well built. A lot of later cars show visible cost cutting/cheapening down.

I guess you're just lazy!

Would you say it was not as bright now as it was before?!?!?

I am lazy but the actually MPH and rev counter is too much like hard work compared to the centre Console for example.

That does look good, does anyone have any other colour lights to show me?

The dials aren't quite as bright as they were before, I have some more tweaking to do to balance things up. But even so, I still have the dimmer turned down, so they're bighter than they need to be.

The gauges are actually easier to do than the heater controls - just needs the bulbs changing, no soldering. But getting the dash apart is a pain in the rear.

If so what was all the soldering about, really scard me for me a min

So if i just change the bulbs it will look like yours?

Cheers, Kirstie :o)

2 of these should do ok. you may need to cut the bulb holder slightly to get them in .

or try www.ultraleds.co.uk for some super bright leds 286t in what ever colour you require.
