To T-sport Or Not To T-sport

Hi guys,

need a little advice. Im seriously thinking about moving on to a T-sport  (P1) from my GLS in the next couple of months because I want something a bit faster and dont want to spend any more money trying to get a 1.3 to go faster. What is the best way of doing this - trading in and getting one from a dealer or selling and buying private?

Also what do you T-Sport owners acctually think of it compared to a 1.3 (if you've ever driven one  ).

Im hunting for one in a dealership in the area without luck at the mo for a test drive

Thanks guys,

Timmy

Quickest easiest way is to trade in. You will get a better deal selling yours privately and buying your t sport with cash but may take some time finding a buyer for yours. As for speed the t sport will be faster but as there both small engines dont expect something thats lightning quick

as chris has pointed out, it wont be silly quick compared with yours but a noticable increase. However, it does come with a nicer interior and exterior factory body kit, it does have its advantages, and your starting with that bit more power rather than spending it on the 1.3 and only gettin to the stock ts bhp figures

i took a mate of mine who has a 1.3 in mine the other day, he seemed more than impressed :D

I think you will find it easier selling privately simply because there is a sever lack of T-Sports on dealers forecourts.

to gain an idea check parkers to see what your car is worth, id be tempted to check with a dealer out of curiosity what they would be willing to offer you for your car. You wil probably notice thats its not a great price. Selling private will give you more for you car but at a cost of having to wait longer compared to that of a dealership deal.

Thanks Guys

Parkers says -

Private Good £ 4160

Private Poor £ 3450

Part Exchange £ 3825

Toyota offered me 3400 as a part exchange. "Not too great"

Think its gona have to be the trade in tho cos I dont think I could get to work without a car :(

well my TS is on the autotrader at 5795 only dun 22500 miles from new

but parkers value it at

Dealer £7,970

Private £6,670

Part Ex £6,220

Trade £6,020

so who wants a bargain?

I test drove a 1.3 sr as i couldnt find a t sport in NI. 1.3 is great but the t sport is a completely different drive imo. Go for it u wont be disappointed

the t-sport clutch always has a real short throw making it feel alot sportier than the other models i never knew how different 2 cars could be my 1.0l wasnt nothing compared to my TS (hardly surprising tho)

Get yourself to British Car Auctions & save yourself a load of cash. I bought mine for under £3700 in November 2004 & I reckon if I sold it privately tomorrow I would be able to get a similar kind of figure for it, definately an option worth looking into.

getting on for a year ago, I used to work for a company that had 2 Toyota dealerships

I've driven 1.0, 3 and T Sport and do say I love the T Sport much much more than the others - the name suits it well, it is indeed 'sporty' and thats the best bit. Its not going to keep up with a Celica, but the fun-factor of it is just absolutely brilliant - go for it, I'm sure you wont be disapointed... although, to be safe take one for a test drive, its the only way to be sure :) and as a current Yaris owner you'll know which niggles and bits of the car you don't like - check if the T Sport has these as well, or if they are gone and stuff like that.

Agree with Knightrider, the clutch ..wow, how did Toyota do it. its got the travel of a button, but is progressive and controllable.. and the gear-throws are pretty short, with a nice notchy feel (although not stiff)

all helps to make the car great fun to drive, IMO. B)

I was thinking the same as you had a 1.3 SR (which my missus now drives).

My mate is a foreman at my local toyota garage and after a bit of advise and a couple of test drives I bought a Corolla T Sport, the 1.5 T Sport Yaris imo was still not quite quick enough, very nice car though and in some respect handled better than the corolla, but the engine in the corolla is a gem, our 1.3 SR is still going strong 55,000 trouble free miles and its so cheap to run, wish the corolla was... :crybaby:

We've got a 1.5 TS and a 1.3, the 1.5 definately feels stronger accelerating and even though it's a .2 of an increase it's a good increase, plus if you think of things like the running costs it shouldnt bump up all that much either (depending on how you drive of course lol)
