Got Tte Lowering Springs

Just taken delivery of my TTE lowering springs for my 2002 corolla:thumbsup:

Thought it best to get the local Toyota dealer to fit them, what should I be worried about? Alignment, camber etc. Will they do a good job or am I better to go elsewhere?

Will it actually make the ride any better than the stock springs?

Cheers all

It'll cost about £300 and the wheel alignment etc is taken care of at the same time. You'll notice more of a difference than I did as my T Sport was already 20mm lower than other models, but it's by no means harsh and improves steering response and the look of the car dramatically...

Theirs is a difference compared to standard springs, i fitted TTE springs bout 2 months ago and adding a strut makes it even betta. i wouldnt recommend taking it to a toyota dealer bcos they will probably charge u a fortune, id take it to a specialist which will charge cheaper. i took my car to Elite in dagenham, cost me £99 but thats with a discount from them bcos i know some1 that knows some1. ahaahahaha

Local dealer will do it for 2 hours labour which works out to be about £185 inc VAT, but I wonder now whether that includes wheel alignment? When I originally asked I got them to quote for parts and labour and they didn't mention any other costs...might check again!

Could you tell me what they say after you ask? I am thinking of asking the dealer to fit it as well... So how much for parts and labour?

Kevin

I did change my TTE springs myself and a little help of mechanic that i now that works at my dealer .

I did the backside all by my self with out help

i unsrewed them and took the front shocks to the mechanic i changed the frontsprings bcause theres to much power on the frontsprings ( it could kill you when you do it wrong) than wait a few days so the springs can set them selfs and than let the wheel aglignment do by a Tyreshop they are more experienced

thats what i did ;)

Just got a quote from a local garage, they are saying 50 pounds a corner plus VAT!!!!!

That means about 250 in total just for labour!!! Not a chance! Dunno if that is just an odd one out there...

Kevin

If I let the dealer to do it, would they align the wheel for me afterwards?

You always could ask them to do the wheel alignment a couple of days later , its better for the springs

to be honest changing a buld on a dashboard is damn annoying and sometimes quite hard. The springs are quite easy to fit. just get a decent set of spring compressors ;)

Damn, £200 thats harsh, like i told u bfor, i paid £99 to get mine fitted and aligned but if i didnt get a discount i still would of only paid £130 for it. you just need to find a decent place that can do it and itll be cheaper dealers r rip offs

Hey Jo,

I might do it myself actually... :) could you send me some photos of how to get to the three rear bolts at the rear please.

Is the front really that dangerous to do? If i use a spring compressor, isn't that just a matter of cramping it and release the plate and the most dangerous part is only the bolt on the top might fly out at 100m/h ?

Regards,

Kevin

my personal opinion is that, if you are not mechanically minded take it to a garage. its not worth messing with any of the running gear on a car if your not sure. its what keeps you on the road you see. for a couple of hundred its better to be safe than sorry.

OK just spoken to Toyota service (who you have to book a time slot through) and it appears their info is different to parts where you first get your quote from. To fit a set is round terms £180 a pair so total job is four hours totalling £372 all in. Beyond my budget at the moment so any ideas of a good garage around Reading area?

i did the springs on my fiat tipo 1.9 tuuuurbooo diesel, back in the day. Never again ever ever ever ever. Spring clamps failing is not a fun or an enlightening experience. My advice, don't drink for a month and get some1 else to do it.
