Temp Gauge Problem?

Hi all

I was driving from Norwich to Manchester last night. When I was doing 90-100 all was fine. When I got close to home and low on fuel I slowed down to about 60mph. I noticed that the temp gauge was barely registering (as if the car was really cold).

Is this normal (cold night, low engine speed etc) or could it be something more sinister?

I picked the car up from a tuning place in Norwich that morning and the car was given a clean bill of health. So am a bit bemused!

Any help greatly appreciated

Thanks

let it warm to half on tick over , take it for a 56mph run ,for a few miles if it drops again to zero , chances are the stat has jammed open , fairly common fault , it will need replacing.

Thanks.

Where is the stat and how easy is it to change?

Also where can I get one?

Is it ok to drive the car for long distances if its going to be running cold?

Bit fiddly to get to. You can get one from a local motor factor or Halfords. You`ll be ok to drive it in the meantime. :)

it wont kill the engine driving it with the sticky stat but it will kill your wallet as the car will be running colder so will run with the choke open

nice pic dak
