Work Email Problem

Someone at work is having an email problem which totally perplexes me!

She can send email internally (to people with work email addresses) both from the office and from home but she can't send external email at all, from either the office or home. She connects her laptop to our network in the office and has a dial up internet service (Freeserve) which she uses at home for working from home.

Shes using Outlook 2003 - no one else in the office has this problem - all her email settings are correct and she recieves all email fine.

She says she gets an error message saying "Mail cannot be sent" if its external to the company, but she can send it to me internally and I can send it out no problem.

Does anyone know what might be the problem? Could it be something to do with her settings, or maybe the fact she switches from an office network to a home dial up service?

Basically its hacking me off that I have to keep sending email out for her because she can't! :lol:

What mail server you using there?

Can anyone else send mail externally when connected by dial-up?

Sounds like an error in the server config to me.....

Hi

The reason she can send internally is propbably because she is sending through the same SMTP as your friends in the office. The mail will take the shortest route and will not actually leave the server.

She may not be able to send because she may need to tick the "My Server requires Authetification" box.
