Strange Extra Bolt Circles In Alloys

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I bought an imported rav 4 a couple of days ago and have noticed that all the wheels except the spare have extra bolt/nut circle holes in them, I can't imagine that Toyota would have put these there did they? Perhaps these arn't the origional alloys.

So my next thought was, if the spare doesn't have the extra holes perhaps it doesn't fit at all! Then I realised that I don't have the key to the alloy wheel lock nuts either.. oh dear!

Where abouts is the Jack/brace kept in the RAV4 as I couldn't see it anywhere, perhaps the lock key is with it. Failing that, the locking nut is an externally splined type one, is this a RAV4/Toyota standard type of lock.. if so I might be able to order a key from the dealer who will have all of them?

Thanks

James

probably not std rims. There will be 2 sets of holes, a different diameter PCD - so they'll fit twice as many cars.

Yeah I was thinking that, was just odd that the spare doesn't also have them.. I will check again see if I am imagining it (when Fiance comes home tonight with the rav4).. I thought the wheel looked the same as the others but wihtout the extra holes - I hope it does fit and isn't just 'decoration'!

What about the splined locking wheel nut does that sound familiar?

Many Thanks

James

the jack etc is usually in a bag with the spare .. but I'm just guessing.

My Rav experiance is sitting in a members car for 30 seconds and deciding, I liked the 2 door and would want to do a 3s-GTE swap :)

My jack is under the drivers seat.. Move it all the way back and should see it there. The other tools are in a cubby hole in the boot. Mine store on the right hand side (drivers side) and sit in the rear wing in a big black sack bag thingy....

Many thanks.. Fingers crossed that those things are there.. can't beleive I forgot to check when buying - was too eager! Perhaps the wheel lock key will be in there too.

Does your locking wheel nut look like outward facing splines (nobbles pointing outwards from a smooth circular bolt.)??

Yep...

Mines in a little plastic box in one of the cubbys in the boot...

Needed it last week as I had the front pads and disks done....
