N/a Mk3 Valve Stem Seals

hi all, i own a mk3 n/a manual, it's been off the road since december due to a new car.......but, the new car has let me down a few times, so i'm looking to sort out a few things with the supra, and start using it daily again.

i'm getting smoke from the exhaust, mailny when i take my foot off the throttle after some spirited driving which, i think, is due to worn valve stem seals. presuming this is the case, how much work is involved? how much are parts likely to cost?

we'd be doing the work, so no nasty garage bills to worry about!!

thanks

chris

Hi Chris!!!

Nice to see you still have her and she is still running!!!!!

Sounds like stem seals to me (same problem my grey one, errr, STILL has)

7M Stem seals are about £3 something each IIRC..

It is possible to change them with the head still in situ, but its not a nice job!

..::LINKY::..

My stem seals must be virtually none existant by now... but its not as noticable in an auto.

How is the car apart from that? Gearbox still going strong?

OK, that's the tell tell signs of valve stem seals.

As Karma said, not a nice job, but can be done with the head in-situ.

If just a few puffs here and there, and on start up, I probably wouldn't bother just yet, unless you've got nothing else to do :D
