Brake Disc Help

Tis me again folks.

Having decided it would be a good idea if the car stopped, to save the new nose, I ordered new brakes and discs from Buypartsby.

The fronts, having put one on tonight, are fine but I have a problem with the rears. I started on saturday and everything was going fine until I bolted up the caliper and it locked against the disc. On investigation it turns out the hub has a step machined on it and the new discs fit perfectly over the hub until they reach this step where they stop. This pulls the disc forwards some 3 mm and causes the caliper to be misaligned. I have spoken to Buypartsby and toyota and they seem to think there is only one disc available.

The toyota part no is 4243120320 going by the VIN and Buyparts say this cross matches to their part, but it don't fit.

Over to you - I am wary of ordering else where until I can be sure this won't be a problem with any others and I can't find anywhere that can match the 12.05 +vat that these cost.

:help:

TIA Giles

Cheers for that.

The early/late one says the hub diameter is 55mm, the other one has no dimensions. Wondered if anyone knew if there was a difference?

Cheers, had already emailed them.

I have found my verniers so know what the problem is now. Standard existing are 55mm as confirmed by BI. My new ones from buypartsby are 54mm :ffs:

Will get in touch tomorrow to see if they have any options, or I may get these ones machined out locally if I can get it done cheaply as these disc were so cheap it could be the cheapest option.

Thanks for your help

Giles

If it is just the centre of the rear disk diameter that is just too small to fit over the little raised part of the rear hub you can enlarge the centre of the rear disk. It will fit fine and be secure using the studs. I had to do mine. Can be done with a file and or one of those small stone heads for a drill or air tool just dont go mental and check regularly. Just take it a little at a time

In fact here
