Stupid Halfords, Mp3

So this is hows its gone down.

Went to Halfords, bought a lead to play my MP3 player through, paid 49.99 - They said it comes with free fitting, i 4t could things get any better.

Waited 3 weeks only for the man to tell me when he went into my car, that they had ordered the wrong :censor: ing lead, it would not fit and now a new one had to be ordered!

Now iv been waiting another week, as their supplier has run out and still no call about this one as they have never done a Yaris 2004 model (what a lie). Im going to give it till friday & then gonna ask for a refund.

As it looks like this is going to happen, has anyone had a lead fitted into a 2004 Yaris model or newer? They said they ordered a VTYXOO1 lead, which is the one the connects people told me about, however, this was the wrong one.

Would appreciate anyones help and just to say what everybody already know Halfords is a :censor: ing piece of sh**.

Good to get that out!!

Hello,

I just have to say a couple of things to what danny has written here,First if they were told by a connects company that this is the lead for your car its hardly Halfords Fault for the order being wrong in the first place and as for the wait this is because Halfords only deal with to companys for there leads anyway (connect and autoleads and wen they run out its normal for amonths waiting time?Second is the fact that toyota stereo`s change and they do this without notice......I do need to ask which Halfords did you go to?If you need advice the only 2 guys worth talking to are Steve Eccles Head of Ripspeed in Sevenoaks,Kent and Kieran Hills Super Specialist For Ripspeed X in charlton,London.

Max Res Trevor AKA Saxokiller (FORMER HEAD OF RIPSPEED IN CHATHAM,KENT)

To be fair though, I and many other people i know have often been into Halfrauds to be told that things won't fit when they will, that parts don't exist when they do, promised a part in 2-3 working days and its taken nearly 3 months to get it etc etc! And a lot of the time, the so called "Trained Professionals" (College kids) don't have a clue what they are talking about! And this isn't just in one branch either!

I can see Danny's frustration, and i sympathise! And also i thought Toyota had used a standard wiring configuration pretty much across the range for years, for reasons of economy? But that's neither here nor there... <_<

I have this in my 2004 (although its the same for any other year yaris)

Just buy the connects2 adaptor yourself online from here

Then use the guides at the top to remove stereo, it takes 10 mins (max) to fit! very easy, just plugs in!

Thanks for the responses:

Yeah I can understand its a mistake, but they dont really inform u about anything. When u actually go into the audio department you cant help but the notice the attitude coming from the staff, with a few exceptions!

It was the Chatham Branch - I dont think I can wait 3 months for it, thats just ridiculous. I want to order that product the link recommended but this was the one they said wouldnt fit. He actually got into the car, took the dash apart and then noticed it wudnt fit.

He said if i cancel the order I will still have to wait for the lead as they all come from the same supplier. :(

3 Month wait is stupid, mine came within a few days when I ordered off the site above!!

I'm certain it'll fit your toyota stereo! havent heard of anyone else having that problem....It just plugs into the cd-multichanger plug - and no I dont/didnt have a cd multichanger, but the plug socket was there....

What I would do is remove the stereo yourself and see if you can see the plug socket, then you definitely know the guy at Halfords was talking :censor:

Halfrauds sucks, TBH....

I wouldn't buy anything from there, unless it was cheaper than elsewhere, and on the shelf...

fully agree, when i bought my stereo the said they would fit it no problem, advised it was not straight forward in a yaris and that he would require different parts ie the auto leads duble din and the fasic, he said i was talking nonsense and they could do it no problem as they use external fitting companies.

A couple of days later the bloke turned up took one look at my interior and said there was no way he was even going to attempt to fit it, my excitment now diminished.

When I asked Halfords to fit a new H/U in my yaris they said it cant be done.

Went to a proffessional car radio company and fitted it next day.

Halfords really suck.

Also, the wooden "fruits of the forest" air freshener. Halfords £2-25...wilkonsons 95p!.

Im glad im not the only one who hates Halfords then.

Now they have rang up 2day saying that the correct lead is in and its booked for sunday. Last time he said it would play through the radio, i 4t no it f***ing isnt. If there are any problems and it doesnt work well i just wanna get my refund and get the hell out of there. Il DIY it.

Well ill be back to update on Sunday, I just know theres going to be a problem, i can feel it.

Thanks

D
