That's a 2 hour drive for us :(

Ace cafe in london maybe????

Ace is good, but if you've got more than 15 cars, then it's a no go, as you'd be parking down the street in the evening (on double yellows if memory serves me)!

If the petrol money is there, I might even tag along if nobody minds.

I know its not in the South East - but a few guys from one of the other car clubs i'm a member off are planning a meet at Stonehenge.

Maybe combine a south East/West & Central meet?

I'm IN :D :D :D

I voted for Herts as I noticed there has been a meet there in the past and I have Family in Ware which is near Harlow (kinda area) so if needed I could stay with them for a night anyway. It's a 45 min trip down the M25 & A10 . I've been to Reading before to see Caz & Leeky so am willing to do that but if it's further and I'm attending alone I'm not too keen - unless I can follow someone else of course

all too far away for me, apart from kent which is where ilive lol. or else i would have been game.

I'm only across the Thames for you and I'm up for travelling a bit further ;)

Shouldnt say no til you've given it a try ;)

Good on you T!!

We'll look after you if you're a bit worried about any journey - don't worry. If it's around Berks then I'll make sure we meet you somewhere near the M4 for a convoy :group-cuddles:

i liked the thought of Windsor...

erm, 3 mile cross rings a bell also..

just a suggestion (ive never been there, so hopefully a local can shed some light) but there is a Wellington Country park just south of Reading (on the way to aldershot)... its a nice area?

Yeah - it's just a shame Windsor isn't very car meet friendly unless you drive a Morgan and belong to a classic car club unfortunately. Might take a lot of organising as Ed mentioned. It would have to be well away from the Town Centre - poss nearer Ascot way? Plus it will be impossible to get anywhere near the Castle for pics.

Bring it to Essex, some great places to go, if I remember rightly there may be a car park, that we all could fit into, or invade Lakeside shopping centre's multistory car park, did that on a cruise, on a weekend, and it was really gd, got 100 cars on the top floor! Wiltshire from Essex is a nastly long drive, I have done it a few times before, its about 140miles from the Essex/Kent Boarder! :P

Yup Lakeside is good too, plus it has all the takeaways needed & shops for the Ladies too

SMW or Jerry any more thoughts on this yet? Seems like there's a good amount of interest.

I'm happy with Lakeside (just got back from there today actually).

Anyone want to check their distance the destination postcode is RM20 2ZP.

Posted

hmmm

150 miles.

2 1/2 hours...

(each way)

(can i point out Berkshire got the highest number of votes in the poll?)

Posted

Yep Berks got the most votes - but a lot of TOC Reading were happy to travel into Essex.

OK - if someone knows of a Berks venue and wants to arrange it - post here and go ahead.

If this stays quiet I vote we go lakeside in which case I'm happy to organise.

fair enogh

Great, am well up for that.

I don't mind travelling to wherever, Lakeside is 10 mins maximum from here (4 miles actually) but it takes that long due to the 6 sets of traffic lights that have to be negotiated

Since your organising this meet.... ain't there anywhere in herts then?

I'm sure the Reading peeps would rather travel round a quater of the M25 than half of it  I know Reading can be got to in approx 2hrs from Chelmsford (1hr and 30mins if the roads are quiet), so it won't be alot of differance to get to Lakeside.

Posted

Well peeps keep the ideas coming in and then we can take it from there. But it does look like berkshire has got the greater number. But then it does kinda sound nice to go lakeside ;) I'm not fussed at the end of the day ;)

Im near Berkshire :) right next to the A40.

Posted

It would be my first meet... Lakeside is good for me too.. :)

Posted

My idea for Herts was Hatfield House as we have used it before but unfortunatly they don't want us back (a long story for another topic).

The attraction for Lakeside is that it's easy to find, plenty of parking and has plenty of eats and of course shops to make a bit more of a day of it for those travelling.

Accepted of course that Essex didn't do that well in the poll - hence the issue.
