Hilus Pixkup Pulling Left

Posted this on HPOC forum too but thought i'd post here too...

I recently bought a hilux pickup from my local Toyota dealer. Its an 03 model Mk5 double cab EX with 30k miles on the clock. Truck is wicked except for one annoying thing - it pulls quite a bit to the left almost constantly.

It's been into the main dealers 3 times now for a service, had the wheels swapped around and had a full 4 wheel alignment but its not really much better. The dealers say "they all do it" and that the narrower tyred EX models like mine are worse.

Anyone else driven one and had (or not had) similar problems?

Cheers

Thats a load of rubish what the dealer have told you about they all do that if all the vehicles did that toyota would have done a recall it more than likely what they really mean is, we have your money and we dont care, and were to bone idle to do anything about it,

Ok mate does it get worse under braking?

Although its had a 4 wheel alinment have they checked the toe of the front wheels?

also get them to check that the differencial is nice and free and that one side of the car one wheel is harder to turn than the other side.

is the vehicle still under a warrenty from when you brought it? if yes get it back to them and get it to fix it and dont give up if they fob you off ask them for toyota uk address and number and make a complaint and explain what is happening.

Hmm, i was hoping someone would say "they all do that" but i suspected as much

The vehicle is still under warranty but its been in three times and they just keep saying there's no more they can do so i'm getting fed up going there. I'll try and find a Toyota Customer Services number and give them a call.

Cheers

Its a shame its not a new car as they really would be forced into giving you another vehicle or refunding you, just keep hammering on at them and tell them your not happy and you want it sorted and try make them do something before the warranty runs out

If you have no joy from Toyota customers services i would see the C.A.B.

Hope you get it sorted

I'm sure you already have, but did you check tyre pressures? It's just that my truck (a lot older though) pulls hard to the left when the front left tyre gets low, but you can't tell the pressure is down by looking at it because the thick sidewalls don't deflect much. Even when it was down to 6PSI you couldn't tell by sight.

Landcruisers and Hilux always pull to the left in Australia.

We have cambered roads and the Japanese have flat roads ,hence they pull or should I say drift, because that what it is.

They dont swerve off the road, just slowly drift to the left, maybe .5 of a metre every 50m

Some cars imported or built in oz have something in the steering to correct this.

I got this info off the owner of suspension and steering shop thats specialises in Toyota 4x4 who also had no financial interest.

If your still not happy I would take it for an independant inspection to see if Toyota have in fact aligned all 4 wheels.

I would also check to see if the car has been in an accident
