hi, i have been looking around for insurance quotes for a mkiv non turbo SZ supra (1993) and so far the best i have got is £329! is it possible this is a mistake because i read somewhere there are a lot of errors regarding the insurance of a mk4 because they quote for a mk3 instead. what year did the mk3 supra stop production and the mk4 start?

as i have been getting quotes for a 1993 mk4 is £329 too good to be true?

Probabaly a mk3, as they were built up to 93.

mk4 started the later end of 93.

End of the day mate, if you call your insurer and ask for a quote on a 93 supra non turbo and they give you that price then its not your fault its theirs.

Ask them what engine size they have down for it, the mkiv enigine was 2997cc the mkiii was 2990cc

thats a good point. one other thing that puzzles me though - what is a supra FI? i think ive pretty much got used to all the gz sz sz-r etc etc but on the norwich union site they ask what model is the supra and i get get this:

i also get the FI option on a 1994 supra.

oh and one more question, do mkiv supras have any security devices fitted? if so , are they thatcham approved? thanx again.

Yeah all 2997cc cars are mk4's with the 2JZ-GE or 2JZ-GTE

All the 2954cc engines are the mk3 with the 7M-GE or 7M-GTE.

FI standard for Fuel Injection......which is stupid because there has never been a non-fuel injection supra

Imports never come with alarm system, if they have one it has since been fitted over here.

UK Cars come with Alarms and Immobilisers.

AFAIK they didn't make any in '93, although there are a few that were first registered in '93, which is what causes the confusion...

They'll always be late registered cars, you don't get many cars of these types though because they're not flung off the production line like Fiestas e.t.c

What insurance company was this? I am looking to buy either a non turbo or turbo mkiv and the cheapest quote i have gotten is £950! 28yrs old full NCD and clean licence! That was for a standard SZ.

well ive tried a few sites now but the best was norwich union. £550 for SZ non turbo. im 26, full ncd and clean licence held for 9 years.

where do you live? sometimes that makes a huge difference

Apologies for the error, i have always thought that for some reason Charlies mk3 was a 93
