Final Help With Connects 2

Hi

For those of u familiar with me, I am still trying to play my MP3 player in my Yaris, and still I havent done it.

I tried 2 leads from Connects 2 for Toyota and none of them fitted my car.

I have a Toyota Yaris, T3, WT-i, 54 plate.

Has anyone who has the same model car successfully done this. I know someone has but i didnt know their car model only that it was a 54 reg. Or is it just my car?

None of the plugs from connects 2 fits the sockets anywhere in the car. Im so frustrated, i dont know what to do?

Thanks

It should fit if you have the right one (CTVTYX001) as I assume that the connections are the just the same between the P1/P2, you just need to make sure if somebody with a phase 2 has it fitted.

This thread is the best for all the info you need on the 'Connects 2' IMHO.

According to the 'Connects 2' website it should fit (large 12 pin) - just make sure you are connecting it up right, if your not sure just ask

*I think a mod needs to tidy up the 'Connects 2' thread and add it to the 'how to's' so it's quick to pin point rather than searching through a lot of rubbish

Hi Dave

Thanks for reply. The one I have from Halfords says VTYX001...................... is this one different from the one you mentioned CT VTYX001 u think?

I dont know, is phase two what my car is? The leads just would not go into any of the sockets on the HU?

The box is in my attic which I got from Halfords - I will check it tomorrow and let you know

Your car is 2004 so that means that it's a MKI P2 (has teardrop headlights - Check this post)

Somebody with a P2 must know if the HU connection is a 12 pin - anybody?

There were two sockets on the back of the HU. Am i taking out the smaller one or the bigger one? Or both? Have a feeling it might be me and im not plugging it up properly?

Also, on the connects 2 there are 2 white sockets, these dont fit into each other do they? And there is one small black lead which i assumed fitted into the connects box?

You say there was only two plugs....does the back of headunit not look like this once pulled out:

Because the far right connector is the one to remove and the Connects2 lead is plugged in its place. Then the lead removed from the headunit is fitted into the socket of the connects2 lead.

Hope this helps

Verrrry odd!!! That pic is of a p1 stereo, but shows there *should* be 3 plugs

Sounds like you dont have a multichanger socket then....Has anyone else whose got a T3 P2 discovered this too??

Not having much luck with this are you mate! :(

I guess at this point your forced to either buy a o.e headunit (eBay?) or sell the connects2 and buy a proper headunit?

You could also use a FM Modulator with your existing stereo but the qualitys not very good!

Have Toyota just changed the back of the radio in a T3 model. Do u not have a T3 model then. How stupid if this is what they've done.

Well i really would prefer to keep the original stereo.

While shopping in Halfords i did see some toyota connects 2 leads, i should see whether they might fit.

Anyway, 2mrw I will take some pictures of the back of my stereo and post them. See if anyone has actually done it, it cant be just me!!!

If anyone else has done it then please let me know?!!!

Mate im sure it ill fit! Your car has the main tape player with the Cd player in the coin slot below all from toyota yeah? Im pretty sure its the tape player section with the connection in the back of. Just have a proper look and unplug the plugs and look at which one it would fit into. I think the one with the two plugs your looking at it is the HU Cd player thing you have in the coin slot. Instead you need to look at the back of the tape player! This is my guess. You will need to unplug the 12 pin plug if there is already one in the unit and then plug the connects2 unit between this plug and the unit!

Hope that helps

Oh no,

What a spastic I am. So I have to look at the back of the actual unit where the CD player goes into. Does this involve taking the white plastic thing out because I didnt do that. I was looking at the back of the unit where it shows the display etc, at the top near to the speedometer. Have i been looking at the wrong one? I hope I have, and if I have im gonna stomp back into Halfords screaming.

Cheers, Il try it 2mrw and let u know - thanks again.

Yep you nutter :lol::lol:

What you should find out is - you remove the wire from the back of the HU and in it's place connect the wire (which will fit) to the back of the HU from the 'Connect's 2' box, you then need to connect the orignal wire which was connected to your HU to the other wire on the 'Connect's 2' box.

So what you finally should end up with is the wire coming from the car (originally connected to the HU) plugged into the 'Connect's 2' box, and then the other wire from the 'Connect's 2' box will connect to the back of the HU.

I think that explains it - good luck :thumbsup:

It's a doddle!

you've been looking at the wrong one

you will have to take the head unit out, and it should be the same wiring as in the diagram above
