just got celica gt 2 ltr - 1994

remote does not work.took it to benfield toyota in leeds and they say its not toyota alarm system - i cant even find the alarm but know its got one. but what about the central locking etc - is it not factory fitted?

Standard UK cars came with a factory fitted Cat 1 Alarm/Immobiliser which was integrated with the central locking.

Japanese Imports didn't have alarm/immobiliser but did have remote central locking.

Even if it is a UK car though a previous owner may have replaced the standard alarm. The standard Toyota Alarm control box is located under the gear lever surround - so you could pull that up and look for that.

What kind of remote does your car have? Is it oval with 2 buttons and a Toyota Symbol on it? Does it operate the central locking?
