I took off one of the wheels to check the brake pads today. The car is less then a yr old bought it from toyota direct first hand. When i romoved the wheel i noticed allot of corosion on the main centre rod, so much so some flakes of metal are rusted. Also when putting the tyre back on one of the bolts snapped as i was tightening it by hand. This i felt was very unusual and worrying. Has it happened to anyone else and does anyone have a clue about what to demand to be changed, fixed or sceen to regards the rust?

Also when i brake and turn a squeking noise comes from the wheels thought it was the brake pads thats why i checked them though they are still about 9mm thick, so its not them anyone have any idea what it might be?

Thanks for your help!

I've rust all over my brakes but they're fine. Get them cleaned at a dealership, or DIY it if you're tight and want to risk messing with your brakes. As for the nuts I'd get them all changed if I was you just to be sure. And don't jump on the wrench to make sure they're tight enough........

the aygos are the worse for this as they don't have any protection on the hubs etc, we have changed a few wheel studs tho, people that kick up a fuss usually get the hubs sanded down and greased up, which is what we do on a 20k service anyway. if its a brand new car then get it back to toyota asap and sort it under warrenty, they don't loose money over it either!!!
