you can get door poppers that operate off a remote, don't know where you can get them from though.

I know in my old punto you could open the boot with a lever that's in the same place as where the lever is for opening the fuel door.

Well as said, you can just use the lever next to your seat to open the boot

I do have a boot popper, just it's not installed, partly because I can't be bothered because it's just as easy to pull a lever

yeh i've heard of the door poppers, but unsure if they worked on the yaris

i think they are more of a universal thing, they'll be set ip for your car, and i'm pretty sure some car alarms like clifford come with them, but they need to be set up.

Imagine this scenario: You are driving down the motorway at 70mph. Then suddenly the boot lid flies open and flips bang right in front of the windscreen. You can't see a thing farther than 3 feet....at 70mph.....I bet you are more than 50% likely to leave this horrific scene only lying horizontally.

The procedure to open the boot lid demands that the car is stationary, that it has to be manually unhooked and lifted by someone standing in front of the car. The tethering mechanism is more than just a hook and an eye ring, it has a safety bar to prevent it from slipping out of the ring by itself accidentally. All of that trouble one has to go through is for safety reason, the preceding unlocking from inside the car is for security reason.

mcsky, replacing the stock mechanism with one that can unlock and pop open the boot lid with one single pull from the car cabin is a BAD, BAD, BAD idea. Sorry, this is not what you'd like to hear. I feel strongly about it. In fact, I'd go as far to say that it should be outlawed! :)

The only way it will open if you are going along a road is if you press the button. Highly unlikely if you know what it will do.

Edit: And correct me if i'm wrong, but i thought that UK Yarii had a boot lever pull where the pull is for the fuel cap as standard? Mine does, so I wouldn't say it's unsafe Bee ;)

Tell me one thing - how the hell is the boot being open going to affect your forward vision from your car - the thing is at the back!!!!

Mine doesn't Ross - got a fuel cap open lever on the floor of mine, and a bonnet lift lever on the underside of the dash.

I've seen electronic boot releases on eBay (a quick search on "Boot Release") finds a few.

This one has a nice aluminium button to release :)

You only need one that can be wired to an alarms ECU andthen you can use the remote control for the alarm to open it

i used a central locking solenoid, simply fitted into the boot lid and then a switch in the center console than you just tapped and the solenoid released the lid
