Turbo Seals And Alt Belt

Hi,when i first got my car,my mate gave it some and some white smoke came out of the exhaust,it could just be where it hadnt been used for awhile.

Also looks like the alternator belt wont last much longer.

Would either of these things be on the warrenty?

If not how much would it roughly cost me to get done from toyota?or maybe another garage.

Thanks

I`d give the garage you got it from a call and try your luck. If not do it yourself. The alternator drive belt is a cinch to replace, Half hour job if that. . And the belt itself is only a few quid from MrT or any good motor factor.

As for the turbo seals........ I`d be keeping an eye on that. You need to ascertain whether it`s oil smoke or condensation. If it`s oil smoke it`ll have a blue tinge to it and won`t disperse very quickly once it hits the atmosphere.. If it`s condensation it`ll dissapear very quickly. It could well be some condensation getting burnt off. I know mine takes ages to clear in the cold weather. Hope this helps.

Ok thanks for that fella,The belt looks very easy to change, although the is like no room in the bay lol.

Yeah with the smoke,it was white and went quickly,we had been driving about 30mins i think when i saw it.Might be condensation,i hope it was.

Thanks for advice

sound like condensation. best test for turbo seals is drive the car hard for a few miles and then alow to idle for 10 mins or so. trust me you will know if your seals are gone as you wont be able to see the street.

try to get the belt done under warranty, if they wont do it its no big.

you can get a belt from halfrauds or any motor factors and all you need is 10 mins, a 14mm spanner and a 12mm socket

I dont think they are gone,i think they might be on the way out.

It doesnt smoke that much, only when you give it some.

Might be condensation i guess.

I will ring up and ask,the place i got the car from,if they will pay for the belts to be done,as dont want to go all the way back there to do it.
