Quick question - if I turn my traction control off (I really don't need it under normal conditions), will I make the mechanics of the car last longer? Any thoughts?

Would think it only uses electronics to monitor, then maybe hydraulics if it has to come into use. Trouble is, would you know for definate when you do/don't need to use it?

And they do say 'use it or loose it'........

Personally I would leave it on and don't worry, but each to their own!

Do you find the wheels spin much in the 1.8?

Mine is 1.8 and I do find wheels spinning to much. Tried to get informed and found out that Traction Control regulates power the way it should be but not too much. The way TRC works is to lower the power on the wheel that is spinning and send it to the other one that is not. In some earlier versions of TRC (not talking about Toyota's ones) TRC would cut the power on the spinning wheel and send it to the other one. As the other one wouldnt have the ground not to spin and wanted to start spinning, the TRC would send power back to the first one that wasn't on the tough ground too. So it would keep on sending power left-right-left-right and get completely confused. As result you had a car stucked in the mud or ice with no way out. That's why today you have TRC on Avenis the way it is. It is working, trust me, and it's helping you when your power gets in spinning
