naa - the insight was about the same as the prius...

In September 2000 the Insight became the lowest CO2 emitting petrol or diesel engined car on sale in the UK, a crown which it has defended with ease ever since. In the intervening half a decade nobody has come close to claiming the title. The Toyota Prius is currently its nearest rival at 104 g, some 30% more.

That's what I was basing my comment on

ahh okay, maybe your right...

like i really care, im shopping for a 1999 Dodge Viper - 400 g/km Co2 and 175! :P

alternativley, just buy a new TVR - since they don't have Co2 ratings - i'd argue that 0 is less than 100!

the insight was 109. or the new hybrid is ..

I like the BBC

F >185 g/km Land Rover Freelander 2.0 diesel

Audi A4 1.6 petrol saloon

BMW X5 4.8 petrol

Jaguar X-type 2.0 petrol saloon automatic

Toyota RAV4 2.0 petrol

Lamborghini Murcielago 6.2 petrol

Everything from a 1.6 Audi up basically ..

OK then, so I need to spend 17,225 of the queens english pounds to save 190 quid a year and have a slow car with a weird rear wheel arch......

I think I'll pass on that one!

So anything bigger than an average eurobox is in the top rate and there aren't actually more than 1 or 2 cars in the bottom rate. Is anyone naive enough to be surprised by this?

Just another way to tax the motorist a bit more, hark on about climate change a bit (despite humans having NOTHING to do with it) to make people feel guilty, then tax them some more without giving any viable alternative.

New cars 2001>

They are split into Bands:

CO2 Emission | Band | 12 months duty

********************************

<100 g/km | A | - £0 (down £75)

<120 g/km | B | - £50 (down £35)

<150 g/km | C | - £110 (down £5)

<165 g/km | D | - £135 (no change)

<185 g/km | E | - £160 (no change)

<225 g/km | F | - £195 (up £25)

>225 g/km | G | - £210 (new band)

Older cars pre 2001

Lower Band Cars <1549cc = no change = £110

Higher Band Cars >1549cc = plus £5 = £175

No change to historic Vehicles :D

Motorbike VED to increase with inflation rounded up to the nearest £5

So that means an extra £5 for the celica, an extra £5 for the focus and an extra £5 for the bike - Not too bad I suppose.

Still means I might as well go and get a pre 2001 4litre V8

Sotal - where are those old tax figures from? The only reason I ask, is mine is 134 g/km, but it's £110 anyway? You haven't accidentally used the diesel 2005 tax prices to compare against by any chance?

;)

Yes you are quite right - I'm a numpty

http://www.dvla.gov.uk/vehicles/taxation.htm

That's all the old prices, basically add or subtract as I did in the table

Right Updated the table - it should have been:

CO2 Emission | Band | 12 months duty

********************************

<100 g/km | A | - £0 (down £65)

<120 g/km | B | - £40 (down £35)

<150 g/km | C | - £100 (down £5)

<165 g/km | D | - £125 (no change)

<185 g/km | E | - £150 (no change)

<225 g/km | F | - £185 (up £25)

>225 g/km | G | - £210 (new band)

For Diesel Cars:

CO2 Emission | Band | 12 months duty

********************************

<100 g/km | A | - £0 (down £75)

<120 g/km | B | - £50 (down £35)

<150 g/km | C | - £110 (down £5)

<165 g/km | D | - £135 (no change)

<185 g/km | E | - £160 (no change)

<225 g/km | F | - £195 (up £25)

>225 g/km | G | - £210 (new band)

I think :unsure::lol:

You can do a search for cars in each band here:

http://www.vcacarfueldata.org.uk/search/vedSearch.asp

According to them - there are no cars in Browns new 0 rated tax band

It`s at times like these that i`m glad i drive/prefer/can only afford older cars. All of mine have only gone up a fiver. Bad enough but better than i expected. :(
