Does the budget announcement on new road tax (sorry, excise duty) details mean that there will be zero tax on the Prius? The DVLA web site seems to be swamped at the moment!

The Prius is band B which is now £40 - down from £65

There seems to be a bit of confusion here, surely the Prius comes under alternative fuel vehicle, classTC59 :) on the DVLA website, which means that the Prius tax drops by £35 making it £30 per year,or am I reading the chart wrong ? :(

The BBC forgot to add a second footnote to their table:

* Subtract £10 for an alternative fuel/technology car in bands B-G.

The Prius falls into that class, so it's only £30.

my fork truck which is road legal is free road tax, and very cheap to run. plus has the added bonus of no road rage or i can lift the up and on the nearest building :D you get funny looks when i go round brighton in it

It must cost more than £30 in admin costs. Don't know why they just don't give it us free.
