Aygo Road Tax (budget)

Hi all,

They've kept very quiet on the media today, about which cars are going to be in which tax-band for road-tax since the budget announcements.

Has anyone heard whether the Aygo is going to be one of the few zero-tax cars?

They did mention on the TV news, that one of the cars going into this bracket is a fairly newly launched one, and that it is in fairly limited supply at the moment........ which sounds very hopeful for the Aygo.

Also of course, if this is true, the Aygo models will be in geat demand, and be like gold-dust in the secondhand marketplace!! :D

Any more clues, anyone?

Cheers,

Raggy :)

From what my mum told me I think for the Aygo its going to be about 40 quid for tax. I don't think it will be free. Check the thread about insurance something was written about it there.

The Aygo is in the same Pollution/Car Tax band as the Prius (band B ), which does suggest that the road fund licence will drop to £40 per year (as mentioned in the BBC News reports this evening). According to Auto Express there are few cars that are in band A. In fact the only one they mention is the Honda Insight, which is still available, although they admit that they don't publish the on the road price.

One thing worth noting is that the new Yaris doesn't quite meet the CO2 requirements even with the 3 cylinder engine, so that car is in band C.

I wonder whether Toyota will introduce an improved hybrid that meets the requirements of band A in the very near future. Surely as the next generation Corolla is introduced in the next 12 months or so, a hybrid version of this car is now bound to be in the launch line-up.

That is true, but the thing about hybrids is that as with anything, the more bits and bobs there are, the more likely one of those bits is going to go wrong. Hence the reason I don't like the sound of hybrids.

Other models but are LHD, Smart fortwo CDI, VW Lupo 3L, Seat Arosa 3L and Audi A2 3L, think the VW group products are all out of production though
