Celica Advice Needed!

Hi,

I bought a celica t-sport about 9 months ago (02 plate). I want to stick and amp and sub in it but the carpet in the boot won't be able to keep the sub still. Has anyone else got around this problem and if so how? One suggestion was to use a luggage strap to hold the sub enclosure but I don't think that looks nice. Suggestions? Also are there any other mods that I could do to my celica?

Thanks

Hi there,

how about strips of velcro? Haven't done it myself, but should work fine - as for mods, depends what you want - more power, better handling, cosmetic?

velcro will work but may come unstuck under hard cornering In my experience. Strapping it down is also an option but does not look that tidy.

In my old civic i got some cheap wood(plyboardy stuff) and made a new floor for the boot , covered it in carpet and nailed the sub down - Looked good and i believe 4 years later its still in there and solid.

 Bit extra work but worth it for peace of mind .

Some cars have pretty solid bases but cant remember whether the Celica has just carpet. Id struggle to get one in as the annoying sparewheel is right in the way! thinking of getting rid and having some of that foams as a spare!!!!! Saves weight aswell!

The tyre weld is good stuff, but if you want the tyre repairing instead of getting a new one, its costs you more money cuz they have to scrape all the foam out. I had it on my pug cuz i had 17s and i couldn't fit a spare in the wheel cage under the car as it was that low it touched the floor, especially when going over speed bumps.

Hi,

I'd use velcro strips as well, pretty cheap to get a roll of it, i once used it in one of my old cars for a cd changer, i didn't want to drill holes in the actual car, so i got a piece of cheap mdf, made a box and then stuck the changer to the box and stuck it down with the velcro strips, and then folded the actual carpet over it, took me a couple of hours but a job well done, and it stayed that way for 3 years, and never moved an inch, and i could easily take it out whenever i wanted to, i actually stuck the box to the metal part under the carpet, which is probably more sticky than the carpet.

I just put 4 rubber feet (Maplins for a few quid) on the bottom of my box, and it stays where i put it just fine.
