This sounds like a really stupid question, but what do you do about a spare wheel if you fit (for example) 15" alloys?

I guess the standard Toyota one will be no help, and a 15" wheel wouldn't fit in the space. I read somewhere about carrying a can of that emergency tyre weld stuff - does that work?

That's the trouble with passing your test this old, you want to be a bit boy racer, but still try to be practical (I fitted a sub, but kept it small enough to get some shopping in the boot! etc)

The T-sport comes with 15" alloys and the spare wheel in yours is presumably the same crappy space-saver. So the spare will still work if you put on 15" alloys - also works if you put 16" alloys on, as I found out recently. Hope this helps.

space savers are rubbish, i always had a couple of tins of tyre weld/foam/gel in the car :)

i dont have a spare, only a phat 4 channel amp! have 17's tho so i guess a spare will be pointless

Tyre Weld!! noooooooooooo.. ok, you get a slow puncture, you put tyre weld in, it seals it (IF it works.. most don't.. including the one that a rep was trying to sell us at work.. failed miserably in the garage ) then you are happily driving along, you then pick up a 3" nail and the tyre weld inside your tyre seals it up before it even goes down.. what are you left with?.. a tyre that has a 3" nail in it and you completely unaware and doing 80mph down the motorway... not good me thinks.

Hexa-dB.. 15" 16" or even 17", if you get a puncture, put your space saver on, keep your speed below 50mph (it's the law with different sized tyres accross the same axle.. not just space savers) and don't drive more than 65 miles on it in one go (again.. it's a law)

well when i had a puncture i just shoved one of the old 13" steelies back on so i could drive normally, if i ever have to do a change in't middle o nowhere i guess i'd just use the space saver untill i could either get home to my spare steels of to a tyre center

You can't drive "normally".. it still comes under the same rules and laws as it does if you put your space saver on.. 2 different sized tyres on the same axle... but of course, it IS way better than the space saver.

I just use my space saver, it's fine until you can make it to a tyre place!

Having 2 different size tyres accross an axle means uou can only drive at a maximum speed of 50mph.

Tyre weld says go no faster than 30mph, I believe.

its enough to get you home, its a very temporary repair.

I'd much rather have a space-saver than a can of tyre-weld

i do believe you need to be clinically brain dead at the end of the day to do that though

to me 'limp-home-foam' is exactly that, a reason to get the tyre to decent inflation and either get it somewhere safe, ie off a main road, or at least to a tyre shop, home etc...

id never try to commute on the stuff
