Just need some advice as im not an expert on the Supra

I'm looking at buying a Mark iv Supra TT auto (import). Reading various articles the Supra was discontinued in this country because of high emissions, I'm just thinking about come the MOT what if it fails the emissions test? Has anyones Supra failed this?

Thanks

Supra's will only fail emissions for one of the following reasons.

A - The cats have been taken out

B - The car is running very badly/or something is very wrong

C - The MOT centre is run by idiot, its usually this one.

The supra was discontinued because the 2jz engine was not able to meet the emissions regulations coming into effect after 1996.

In japan the emissions laws are not so tough so the supra was able to be sold right up to 2002.

New Emissions laws are being passes all the time and manufacturers need to make their new engines meet these levels. But this doesnt effect used cars.

Lets face it, a 1950's Jaguar isnt going to pass a 2006 emissions level.
