I Took My 'rolla To Get The Dastek Fitted....

It's a couple of weeks ago now, but I went to Engine Advantages in Essex to have the Dastek Unichp fitted and they got it all wired up and ready to go on the rollers.... on the first few runs we noticed that the car was limiting @ 7,500RPM almost as if the car was cold. It was fully warmed up and everything so this was not the problem. The technician checked his wiring diagrams and I explained that although he had done Celicas before, they were probably the 140BHP model, which he confirmed...

So this leaves me in a pickle... the instructions he has are for a 2ZZGE engine which is the same as the 189BHP T Sport engine code if I'm not mistaken, but this set-up is not suitable to engage the higher cam at the lift point. :ffs: The dealer is obviously stumped cos two weeks later they haven't got back to me although I've chased them up on it :(

I haven't paid anything for it yet, and the good news is, I had the pre-Unichip installation run on the rollers which returned a very healthy 199.9BHP @ approx 7,500RPM B) I'll run with Optimax for a few weeks before the next run to get the extra 0.1BHP

The technician was even surprised that the induction kit alone gave such good BHP/£ I'll post a copy of the slip when I find a scanner.I was slightly disappointed as the torque is quite low as is the BHP at the wheels, but I suppose that is the nature of high revving engines like the T Sports and Type Rs. Anyway, just thought I'd let you know about my experience and if anyone has any solutions or ideas to the problem engaging the higher cam, then please let me know!

Thanks

how much did they charge you because they want £550+vat to do my car and they recon it will give it 25 to 30 bhp extra?

is it worth it?

I got mine at:

Engine Advantages,

Witham,

Essex.

The proprietor is Paul Hills and their website is:

They charge £420 all in (rolling roaded before, Unichip fitted and tuned, rolling roaded after). I paid a £50 deposit, but don't have to pay the balance until they complete the job. I've been told by another member that it'll be worth it, so I can only really let you know if I'm happy when it's done! The Compressor may be a different baby though...

I see you also have an Alpine headunit with iPod nano interface - which headunit unit do you have, because I wanted to get the CDA-9855R but apparently the iPod interface doesn't support the nano, so I didn't buy it! :ffs:

Cheers for the info! Do the steering mounted controls still work?

Sorry for asking lots of questions, but on another note, why did you fit 35mm Spax springs when the Compressor is already lowered 35mm?

Let us know how you get on with Autoleads :(

The Compressor is 15mm lower than the T Sport which is 20mm lower than s standard Corolla.... or so I thought!

I don't find the 17" Kahns nor the 18" Kahns I had on my car heavy at all!

One LAST question about your car henners.... did you have it rolling roaded? What was the BHP at the wheels like? There was a 28% loss through the transmission on my run  :(

193.12BHP at the wheels is alot!!! That's only a 14% drop from the flywheel figure. Mine went from 199.9BHP at the flywheel to 146BHP at the wheels :(

I suppose the Compressor is a different beast? I'm beginning to think I have clutch problems though which might be the reason for such losses... CONFUSED!

dont forget tho each rolling road is going to be different i mean mine could be down loads or ure could be up loads?

i mean just from the K&N typhoon i got 10bhp

but if u think ure clutch is on its way out get it done under warrenty and if not just burn it out and get a new one. then get it rolling roaded again!!!
