Hi guys,

I've had my Aygo + for 5 months now and the lack of a rev counter is driving me nuts!!! Can you buy an 'official' rev counter and retro fit it? Are the wires already in place?? Any help appreciated.

Cheers

A.

yes you can but its pricey as i asked my dealer and it would cost 251 pounds! but when i will have xtra cash i will put it on too cos as the engine is too smooth i would like to read on it what is happening under the hood! :D

You can buy it cheaper from Peugeot and then fit it yourself.

You could buy a fancy guage like an Apexi RSM (eletric) or a cheapie from Halfords and wire that up. Shouldn't be too hard.

It doesn't look too hard you just need to know which connector to connect it to. But i am sure someone on here can help with that.

Thanks. I'm going to get it when I next get paid. Think I will be able to claw some of the money back through being able to drive it more economically.

Thanks all

Mate, some tips on saving fuel, I got an auto, which on the flat with a small throttle opening it changes up at approx 1900-2100rpm, the last three changes are easy to remember because they are at 30kph, 50kph, and 70kph, think the first is approx 15kph. This got me thinking I could save fuel by selecting the higher gears earlier (though not labour the engine the transmission won't let you do that), turns out it used more fuel! Guess because of slightly larger throttle openings at lower revs, to the extent that if you are going up a hill (not a steep one just a 1:6) at 45-50kph (when in auto) the transmission will select second gear (and a lot of revs) to hold the speed. When you rev over 4500 the fuel consumption is out of the window though, but the acceleration will puzzle reps on the motorway  for a moment until you grow up.

Think Toyota should give you the rev counter or least offer it for £30 factory fit no use now I know, but the retro fit price stinks, when mine was £30 factory fit.

Mine was £170 from my local peugeot dealer. It isn't hard to fit so you don't need to pay extra for getting it fitted:P

Thats a cheek. Peugeot charged me £50 as a factory fit!!

Oi! Pug Bug was n't it £30? Just had a look on the Peugeot website too, to check. :!Removed!: Don't mean to be a know it all, sorry. Noticed you got the back seat down in your pic, is that so you can hear the exhaust better  (I need to grow up)? Also lower the centre of gravity when on the track. Helps when reversing too, I have noticed.

Can see straight through the back window, is n't the back seat in the way of the huge back window when parking? By the way I am also a bit long sighted, sort of reverse Mr Magoo :lol:

Back seat is removed actually along with all the stuff in the boot! I got my car back in June last year when the price for rev counter was £50. It must have gotten cheaper.

Did Toyota in the UK also cut the price for the Rev Counter???

When I bougt my Aygo in september the additional Rev Counter would

cost €300, so I chose not to get one. Now they're down to €150 for the

complete set or just €90 if you cut up the factory fitted cowling yourself!

I hhad been thinking about building an LED-bargraph

myself, but with this price-cut I'm going for "original".

Just wondering: would a RHD rev counter fit a LHD car? So the

rev counter sits next to the radio instead of near the A-pillar???

You can't buy a rev counter from toyota in the UK. Unless you buy the 'sport' model.

Really? Weird...

In The Netherlands (where I live) you can buy the rav counter as an accesory.

It even breaks down into 3 pieses if you want to: the actual counter,

the new cowling for the speedometer and the bolt used to affix it to the console...

Too bad, I'll just get me a LHD-one then...

@Guidom;

I know you've got a How-To on your site,

that's where I got part of my info from...
