Is The Yaris An Amalgamation Of Other Cars?

i read a motoring suppliment yesterday about the new yaris, and it said something like, the new yaris is less of an amalgamation of other supermini's around than the mk1

i disagree with that due to the fact it doesnt look like another car i can think of. am i the only one who disagrees?

It looks like small corolla :!Removed!:

all "super-minis" are heading the same way and shape....

I don't think it is, but of course i'm more than likely wrong (as normal). Doesn't share an engine with any cart (except they aygo, but that dioesn't count because it was built with the french), and as Jay said, it doesn't look like anything else on the market at the moment

but the artical said the mk1 yaris looked more like other supermini's at the time than the mk2, so u disagree with it?

i dont think the mk2 yaris looks the same as other supermini's, i think its still relatively unique

no im neutral with it...some it does others it doesnt :rolleyes: It doesnt actually make much of a difference to me...i like my ca for my own reasons and nothing will change that, if it looks like other cars or not ot doesnt matter

the mk2 reminds me of citroen at times and it may be "unique" at the moment but so far ive only seen it in one colour and the other "super-minis" are heading the same way design wise...it wont be long until they look the same

The new Yaris contains many design elements which tie it to other vehicles in the Toyota range, hence Blaze's comments about it looking like a small Corolla.

I see supermini design beginning to split in two two distinctive "factions" due to the new pedestrian impact regulations that have come into force. On one hand we see upright, short bonneted designs like the new Yaris which provide a short, inclined surface to catch people and give them a larger area to splt against and on the other hand you see the long, low nose, "scoop 'em up" bonnets of the new Clio and Grande Punto (Big Spot  ).

Personally, I never believe the writing in newspaper motoring supplements - all too often its just the regurgitation of press releases and a bit of unsubstantiated gossip, but either way its normally a rehash of an article in a magazine they read the month before.

Mk1 lights are almost the smae design as EK generation Civis, infact id say the whole of the mk1 is very civicish

new one is a sort of daewoo thing but im starting to like it

I read this earlier on & after driving about today I can't think of any cars which it looks like it's made up from or looks like, the MK1 is very distinguishable..the only thing that may possibly be something is that from a distance the rear of a PUG 307 does look a bit like the rear of a Yaris but that's just something that I've noticed from a distance.

Generally speaking, car manufacturers are afraid of new shapes and sizes and try their hardest to make their cars as boring as possible!

Exceptions are the new Civic, which looks like nothing you've ever seen out of a space comic!

But yeah, first time I saw the new Yaris, I commented that it looked like a mini-Corolla, especially from the rear. The Mk1 Yaris was unique in its day, but other more radically styled cars then came out.

Saying that the new one does have a certain uniqueness that the Mk1 never had - can't put my finger on it, but it does.

LOL!

It's not just about looks though, is it? It's to do with the whole ethos of these cars and, to be honest, manufacturers are all now making the same vehicle, from where I'm standing.

Yes, it is. An amalgimation of what were good in design before it. Nevertheless, it stood out and still stands out among the many other imitators that followed. Yaris will become a classic, no doubt about it. As time passed, I have come to appreciate and discover more of its good qualities (and a few not so good ones!). I love it.
