Avensis Cambelt

Does anyone know if a 2003 Avensis 2.0 D4D have a timeing belt or timing chain??

All D4D's have a cambelt..... only the VVTi's have chains.....

I had conflicting reports from different dealers... one who did suggest cambelt also said that they need to be changed at 80K

is this true?

In the book it says every 60k . and failure of a timing belt does`nt bear thinking about !

The dealer in question needs to get upto speed on the servicing Toyota cars then <_<

The D4D (diesel) needs the cambelt changed every 60K or 5yrs.... which ever comes first

I had mine changed at 60,000 miles.. I had to ask the dealer to do it though, which always amazes me as surely it should be seen as a revenue opportunity. I had the same problem with the previous car (Passat)...

I guess I should get my changed as I'm now on 77000 miles ooooops - would I get advance warning from the engine or will it just go !!
