Cv Joints On Ep82

hi, i need to get a pair of outer cv joints for my ep82, but they appear to be like gold dust lol. anybody know where i can get some from? help much appreciated, cheers!

some motor factors list the starlet turbo in their books. if your lucky they may be able to get you a cv joint.

funny you should bring this up... as i spent 3 hours changing mine yesturday!

i got mine from toyota but be prepared to spend some money, you have to buy a kit which includes 2 gaitors (one for each end of the drive shaft) two tubes of grease and all the gaitor clips. u cant buy just the cv gaitor u have to get both and it cost me £66 for one kit!!! eeek!

the reason they sell them in pairs is because the drive shaft has to come out of the gearbox in order to get the cv gaitor off/on.

but dont worry u wont have to drain the gearbox oil when u take the driveshaft out, toyota thought of a clever way aroud that! just unclip the gaitor on the gearbox end and pull the shaft out, on the end will be three wheel type thingys, wipe the grease off and u'll see a circlip that hold the crazy part on the end. its easy from there. i hope that saves u some time as it took me ages to work out!!

whoops u mean the actual cv joint not just the gaitor?!

i would go direct to toyota, then u will definately know ur getting the right thing, i think u would have to get the whole drive shaft 'cause the cv joint is not detatchable

the cv joint is easily detatchable. and to do the boot you just take the joint off, remove the old boot, put new one on and refit.

no need to remove the driveshaft itself.

oh and i got my cv boot kit from a local motor factors for £7 each. you got ripped off there buddy!

dammit! it really didnt look to me like the joint was detatchable it was all one peice
