lastley the stearing is a bit dodgey when you turn the steaing wheel lightley in either diffection it dosent turn the wheels , you have to pull it round a bit before it starts turning, it also pulls to the left slightley , it dosent have power stearing , i dont know if was origanley fitted with power stearing or not , because i was wondering about the stearing rack ?

Hi

I have just sold my Mk111 Hilux. It also developed 'sloppy' steering, I cure this initially by adjusting the steering box. There is a square headed bolt with a locknut. jack up the front of the vehicle and adjust this bolt until all the play is taken up. Don't overdo it or the steering becomes too stiff, hence do it a little at a time & try the steering.

Another problem with sloppy steering is wear in the 'drag link' from steering box to crank arm, the joints are adjustable so that the wear can be compensated for but only up to a point. New drag links are available at reasonable cost from Milner 4x4.

Sorry can't help with the other probs!

Tony
