I'm Happier Than Larry! Thnx To The-garage.co.uk + Gtschris

After owning my 1990 Rev1 MR2 Turbo for over a year, I have it running just how I had always intended to...sweet!

But this had initially been a pipe dream for so long......

Along the way I've gone through

- A whole lot of £££'s...

- An old Rev1 Engine...

- 2 Exhausts...

- Dodgy Mechanics...

- Heartache! :(

Anyway!

I took my car to Wishaw(Outside Glasgow) to 'The Garage' (www.the-garage.co.uk)

Marc was a really nice down to earth guy. Not your usual mechanic type....no dodgy stroking of the chin and saying "Oooooh that'll cost you!"

I went it fo a service and the installation of a few mods....Marc advised me to attend to some more pressing matters first though...not

like certain others mechanics I've been to...who'll take your money first...and then tell you your car is <I thought I could get past the swearing filter - what a sad muppet I am eh?>ed....(I'm not naming names...)

I need a new power steering rack and my exhaust needed attention!

Here comes GTChris.com to the rescue!

I thought if I needed a new exhaust....I'd go for a downpipe too...(I was feeling flush after a bonus at work)

Chris supplied with a barely used Apexi N1 Exhuast and a brand new Downpipe(better than the one advertised on his site). He sent the goods

quick fast and Marc got started.

I also had a number of eBay bits and bobs too. All in all Marc(and Cal) helped me to install the following!

- Electronic Boost Guage

- Apexi N1 Exhaust :P

- Downpipe :P

- Manual Boost Controller (1Bar)

- Blitz(like) Air Filter (eBay)

- Fuel Cut Defender (TBD Developments!) :P

- Speed Hut Custom EL Dials

- Momo(like) Wheel and Boss with TRD Logo (eBay)

- Speed de-restrictor

- New Drilled & Grooved Discs (and pads) all round (eBay)

- MicroFuzion GPS Speed Camera Detector

- Power Steering Rack

- HKS Spark Plugs

- High Performance Leads

The chaps at the Garage took me for a spin on Friday.....OMG! I've never been so scared in my whole life! Marc is a bit of a speed demon.

I never knew my car could go that fast...so quickly!

The acceleration was outrageous compared to what it was like before....

And the noise......Apexi + Downpipe =

The Garage guys set everything up for me...and they bent over backwards in getting all the parts in and servicing done on time. Especially when the eBay brakes came without front pads!! :(

Anyway needless to say I am happier than Larry! The car is absolutely mint...

I'd highly recommended all parties concerned

Happy Motoring!

Thanks for the replies guys....

It's sooooo true about finding a good mechanic.

My car got butchered by a local mechanic in Edinburgh who said he'd dealt with MR2's before....

£300 down the drain and literally a wrecked engine...the thing was misfiring and couldn't idle to save it's life..!

I was also recommended one of the most popular mechanics on www.imoc.co.uk but I didn;t find him any use at all....he knew my car was ubikd but still happily took £500 instead of being honest with me.

Owning a tubby and being a newbie isn;t a good combination!

Thankfully I am a little wiser now...

And the chaps at the Garage are well sound!

I'll be holding on to them for sure!

ive personally stumbled on a top bloke for my car too... at the garage 50 yards away from my house!

knows every last little thing about them and i must confess he is mega strict with things, failed mine on its MOT for only minor problems. But then he says he doesnt let small problems turn into big ones

itll most definately be going back

That's a nice little turn up for the books then!

Was it a recommendation or just pure chance?
