Mk3 Sidelights Without Popup?

Hi guys! Thought I would try here, as I`ve trawled the net for answers but come up with nothing so far.

I own an '89 MK3 turbo auto UK spec. I`m looking for a mod that allows the sidelights to come on without the headlamps popping up. Some cars have it this way, others don`t..and its quite random and not year dependant.

This topic seems to appear every now and again on most supra sites, but theres no clear modification documented. Has anyone had any luck doing this?

Cheers!

Drake

I don;t know if anyone has actually done it or not...

I do know that there seems to be no or very littel sense in what cars do and what cars don't from the factory, we are lucky in that our three can have the side lights on, with the lights down!!

I have not heard of anyone sucessfully doing the mod, but it can't be that hard... Let us know of you find out!!!

(don;t bother using the us/canada TRSM for wiring clues either, their lights are all wired in differently to ours!)

I've got the same too, mine come on with the lights down.

Always wondered what the 1st position on the stalk does though, seem useless. 2 is sidelight, 3 is popups, but 1 seems to be up for rent.

The first position is the light hold position...

Click it onto the first click, then flash the head lights....

the lights will stay up, with the lights off.....

some say it is for cleaning the lenses... others say it is for people that live in cold places so they don;t freeze shut
