How much does a MKIV pre-VVTi j-spec TT engine weigh?

Only roughly, with or without ancilliaries.

Why have you found one somewhere :D

I bid on one on eBay, and it was yet another time waster seller :(

Someone asked if they could buy just my engine, and I'd have to sell the rest seperately - but it was to go in a Cobra type kit car, I said it'd probably be too heavy for it but I don't know really.

Gotta be heavier than a Rover V8 surely!

No it's PRE-VVTi. 1996 car.

I'm selling the car, but someone said they might want the engine - I suppose if they were stupid enough to pay silly money for it I could make quite a bit on breaking the rest of the car - be a shame though.

Unfortunately it is the way the market is going... the Mkiii marlet has been like this fora while, and mkivs are just going there...

I have just done this with my mkiii... to get the bodywork perfect enough to command the right sort of money was going to cost X, but to sell the Shell for a project, sell the engine, sell the wheels, coil overs exhaust and bits gave not only a better yield, but instant money!!!

I knowa chap after a 2jz and all the bits to run it it you are interested. I want them too, but have no money :(

FYI

Just got this on mkivsupra.net:

The whole engine without the turbos and intake weighs 280kg

The intake weight is 7.5kg ... Turbos 24 kg

The V160 gearbox weighs 56.5kg without the clutch.

Karma if you still want an engine one's just come up on the mkiv forum:

2JZ-GTE engine, only 47.5K

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This was in my car. Superb engine that ran very very well.

@ 27.5K I fitted a new short motor (£2.2K), due to an oil sludge problem (first owner was an old guy who didnt rev over 3000rpm). It was carefully built by AAD, and has performed faultlessly for the last 20K miles. Just the engine, no ancillarys. £1500 plus delivery.

Just found the receipt for the new short motor part number 1140049088, retails @ £1998.06 plus vat £2347.72 I also remember buying a new sump and pickup pipe then too!
