Arrgh - Dented

If today wasnt bad enough - hassle from teachers about my school work, a girl i like giving me grief, the statioanry shop not having the pen i needed and a runny nose today was well and truely made worse by a brick.

on the way home i pulled onto the dual carrageway following a skip lorry as im overtaking him i see lots of gravel and other assort crap begine to pour from the back of the skip and then as quick as that a dark object flying straight at me, theres a dull mettalic dong/thudding noise and i see the object fly up past the top of the screen.

in my confusion i dont think about getting the bugger's company name/no. and hurry to get somewhere i can park to get a look at the damage (at that point i was hoping it was a lump of clay)

and there sure enough 6" from the nearside hed is a inch by 2 inch dent with an assortment of metal deep scrapes and deep scratches :crybaby:

tbh im just happy that the thing missed the screen but totally gutted at the mess, next job is to find some primer or something just to cover the bare metal asap until i can either get it repaired or get a fresh bonnet (or persuade dad to let me go carbon  )

Ouch :(

can you remember the name of the company at all - not even a little bit? they are responisble to make sure things stay in the truck/skip.

going to sound harsh but it could have been worst, i.e the brick going through the windscreen into your face.

Try and drive in the same place a bit and see if you can find the same sort of skips go by.

First thing not to do, say was this your skip, as they will deny it obviously

If you think your a pushover, deal with it in writing, send it recorded delivery, and wait for reply.

State, times dates, and road number etc, plus a cost to repair, and picture of the damage

Nick

Bad luck mate. These things happen but I hope you can get to claim.

Though as Moffmo says it could've been your head!

Keep smiling. ;)

Wow that could have been really nasty! At least it didn't cause any injuries.

Definitely ring the skip company and point out that it could have caused a serious accident.

Sorry to hear about this, but as Matt says, it's their responsibility to make sure the stuff stays where it should so when it doesn't it's up to them to fix the mess. If you're not too confident about getting anything off them, send for reinforcements as recommended (women are generally good at stuff like this) & make sure they pay the bill, don't fork out money because of some1 else's mistake.

ouch sorry to hear that mate, that's harsh.

It's worth trying to claim off the lorry company but they might dispute - be warned.

Get all the info written down (times, location, desc of the lorry etc) so you have it all handy and none of the details are sketchy incase of dispute.

Hi there. Sorry to here about your problem. Top wind deflector thing on a big lorry almost killed me once but hit the chavy corsa behind me when it blew off about 8 months ago. lol. Heres a linky for a new bonnet. Cheep as chips.

Yaris Replacement Bonnet

Also there is a company called Dent Devils that come to your house and do paintless dent removals and they are quite cheap and really good. Look em up. Hope this helps.
