Replacing Speakers

Hi all,

I am looking to change the Speakers in my 5 door T Sport.

I am a total imbecile with this kinda thing, and i really need help from the ground up!

First of all, how do i get to the speak enclosure and can anyone give me the correct size of the Speakers that i need to purchase?

I have read that it is 6.5" for fronts and 4" for the back...is this correct? I cant find this information anywhere.

Secondly, can i just use the existing wiring to connect to my to-be-new-speakers?

Any input is much appreciated.

i believe there is a thread already that will tell you the speaker sizes.

pull the door trims off, drill the rivets out holding the Speakers in place, stick ur Speakers in. simple as that :D

i put 6.5" in all four doors and i used the existing wires

which Speakers did you install ?

i put these pioneer TS-A1711 in the back, and some pioneers in the front. they're all 6.5 inch (17cm)

by how much has this improved your sound quality joebloggs?

r u still running the stock headunit?

It improved the sound by a lot, but cant really get decent bass out of door Speakers so i put a vibe sub in the boot and it sounds brilliant

i took out the stock H/U replaced it with this pioneer

which ones did you put in the front ?

any modification required to fit the Speakers in the front ?? ie depth wise ?

i have the 3 door.. so it's not 6.5" in the back.

when u take out the old Speakers you have to unfold the metal around the edge of the whole where the speaker sits, its nothing major. you'll see when u do it, but i cant remember if its the front or back.

if the standard rear Speakers in the 3 door are the size as the 5 door, i reckon you should still be able to get 6.5" in there

they're much smaller.. i think i saw something like 5" being quoted on here somewhere.

which model Speakers did you install in the front ? was it TS-A1711 as you put in the back? or different ones ?

They were different pioneers to the ones in the back, some old ones i had, not sure of the model number.

What you can do is take out ur rear Speakers, get some 6.5" and see if they'll fit.

it's definetely not 6.5" inch in the back on the 3 door version.
