If you can get a hang of fibre glassing then you could make something really special and minimise the use of the boot space. tommygun has made a nice tidy job though and is doing the right thing of getting a shop to do the setting up and wiring if he's has probs before.

If building/designing your own box then have a read up of this info.

Subwoofers Info

If you can, try listening to a car that has been setup for what you want. You'll me amazed at how well an 8" sub performs if installed correctly. It may not look as impressive as a 10, 12, 15 or even 18 but if it sounds right for you then why want something that looks better but doesn't sound as good !

Also a heavy box in the back not only affects mpg but also handling of the car so keep an eye on the big picture.

If considering fibre glassing then have a look at

CFS Fibre Glass

It's easy enough just bloomin messy.

As always keep it simple to start with but also with the ability to expand if required. Anyone looking for help or advice with car hifi then I'll be happy to help if possible - I have been involved with car hifi for around 10 years.

Maybe I'll put fiberglas in there but first have to tint my windows then ;)

ah that kind of fiberglass, here in holland we call that polyester :P

@ Pug Bug: I bought 2 bassboxes, so that was very easy, I put some wood on it. I took the ground carpet from the trunk to get the wright messures. Then I put holes on the other holes, some carpet et voilá!
