hello all :( :( :( :(

:( i have just got hold of my 2nd toyota an avensis t3-s my first was a carina 97 e which was unbreakable and still going strong after 120k..but the avensis had new gearbox @ 80k and now has a terriable rumbling above 40 mph i'm very worried asd this could be very exspensive as local garage said it could be gearbox bearings which i find odd as the gearbox has only done 4k .....does anybody know if it could be wheel bearings as when i put into neutrol @ speed the bad rumbling sound from driver side remains..i purchased the car from car giant and also thier 5 star breakdown protection...but they say it is likely to be wear and tear...i have only had this car for 6 weeks

help......! please

I do not anything about gearboxes etc but a bit of logical thinking.

How many miles have you done since you purchased the car. If you have not done many miles then logic would say that the fault was present when you purchased the car so I would go back with "sold me a faultly car", sale of goods act not fit for purpose etc and trading standards. That should get some reaction from the garage.

Yes. Get in touch with Trading Standards. You definitely have a case there and they have definitely broken the law by not telling you the faults in advance.

Make sure you keep every receipt and documentation to do with the car and write down a record of when faults happen etc...sort of like a diary.
