More Progress With The Rolla

well stripped the rollas engine today. not because it had any issues (other than a suspect head gasket that only seemed to leak on antilag). stripped it mainly for peace of mind as it will be running at the limit for a stock crank and rods (funds do not allow for a £2000 TTE WRC crank and £1000 billet rods :( )

found that after 8000 very abused miles everything is near perfect. when cold it has a lot of piston slap (as do all forged pistons) but this seems to have had no effect inside the engine.

all bearings are as good as when they went in and the rings have a perfect seal in the bore as there is no blowby past the top compression ring.

so when the competition bearings and another set of ARP rod bolts arrive she'll be put back together and go back in the car and i can set about finishing it and get it back on the road and strip.

roll on rotor stock and TOTB

no got to say i was aprehensive hut figured if any thing was wrong then it would be wrong regardless of whether i stripped it or not so could well save big bill later.

plus i really wanted to fit some uprated bearings to handle the flood of power soon to be unleashed :D

last time i didnt have to strip much as most of the internals were on the exterior of the block lol

Does this mean the Corolla is all done and ready to go or still some minor tweaks?

Did you photo document when you stripped the car? Would be great to see pictures of the work done on the Shell.

power should be in the 450-500bhp area and weight is hoped to be around 950-1000kg.

there is a fair bit of work left but she will be up and running within the next month or two
