You just need to stop the light beam at one end, drive your car up to your garage doors at night, see the light beam , a straight line followed by an angled line , its the angled line that needs to be covered up for use in europe, use some black electrical tape on the headlamp lence ,untill you get rid of the angled beam line ( hope that makes sence ) .

Hi

I looked into this last year (investigated Halfords & other car stores) and the only solution I could find to work for this type of headlight, is to block a section of the beam. My Toyota garage showed me a tech note showing what you need to do which was as follows.

There is a "centre of focus" mark on the headlight, which is a small circular mark in the plastic a couple of mm across which is roughly in the middle of the headlight.

For each headlight, you need to blank off a rectangle that is 95mm horizontally, 43mm vertically and this rectangle should be positioned such that the "centre of focus" is at the top right hand corner of the rectangle.

(The rectangle needs to be horizontally level, ie with reference to the front bonnet)

I made this rectangle with a few strips of black insulating tape and it worked great. When you first look at the black boxes they seem intuitively on the wrong side of the "centre focus" but when you look carefully you see that they block the reflected light in the headlight that would go to the left hand side of the road if you were driving on the right.

Have a play and look at the beam pointed at a wall or garage door before & afterwards to check that it works ok. (You never know something might have changed in headlight design etc)

Hope this helps

Best Regards

Ian
