Celica Making Weird Noise.

can anyone help me, i have a very strange noise coming from the front left side of the car. I have had so many people telling me its different things, starting with the ball joint, then the cv joint, i have changed the ball joint and inspected the cv it is greased and looks fine. The car makes a squeaky grindy noise only when the steering goes to the right it can be a milimeter to the right or full lock and the noise is pretty much the same. My brother thinks it could be the bushes at the top of the suspension strut (mcpherson strut i believe) anyone had a similar problem with there car. Its a GTR with TOM's suspension. Any help very gratefully recieved. Thanks Rory

have you checked the wheelbearings on that wheel? jack it up and see if the wheel has any give in it when you rock it back and foward on the hub. If it does you may need to replace the bearings

(i had an awful noise coming from my old carolla, turns out my bearings were completely knackered, including the outercasing. they said they didnt know how the wheel hadnt actually fallen off yet :D)

Sounds like a grinding, squeeling sound.

Hi,

have you checked to see if you've got a cat stuck there?

(sorry I've not been any help but I know jack about cars but like seeing my answers in print)

Yep if you have done the ball joint I would be lookign at the bearing. As said check for any movement with the car jacked up off the sus wheel. Also listen for any noises while you spin the wheel manually with it turned in the position. If you have a hayes manual for anything check it and under general steering checks it will tell you how to examine the front end. A good enough guide
