Handbrake Cable Question

I just noticed the post below about someone who's passed his MOT again, i wasnt so lucky :( the passengers side handbrake is not doing anything. My dad stripped it, the only thing it can be is the cable. The question is to attach the new cable to the handbrake equaliser thing, is this done under the car, or do i need to remove the console in the car where the handbrake is to get at it.

cheers

Well when I refurbed my brakes recently the cable gave me no issues. I can tell you that under the console there is one adjustment screw, and the cable comes in two parts so it musst attach to the handbrake lever under the car. probably means lowerign the exhaust and possibly removal of heat shields etc.

Listen the console comes out really easy pop up gear stick cover (just clips) two screws under there and two 12 or 10 mm bolts in back of console and it is out. It looks like you willl have to fit a new cable (probably should get both sides) which umtimately means doing the back brakes and re-adjusting from both the hub side and possibly from the handbrake. So ity's an all out job anyway.

As said mine stripped really east and I did not brake anything. The good news if it is disks on the back is that the HB cable bolts into the hub back plate and it's not a cheap ford type springy clip which I just hate.

Jobs a good un, or bring it up here and I'll sort it our for ya
