Selling My Celica... But Getting Another One!

Well guys.. looks like I have a buyer for my SS1 Celica, and if this guy comes up with the goods on Thursday.. it's bye bye Celica :(

But hello another Celica! Cos I'm now after a Celica with a 3S-GE engine, or if I can find one... a Beams!

Do any of you know where I can get a nice well looked after Celica? Or even better, maybe you want to sell me yours?

The kind of machines I'm thinking about:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1995-TOYOTA-CELICA-G...1QQcmdZViewItem

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/TOYOTA-CELICA-GT-2-0...1QQcmdZViewItem

What do you think of the above examples?

Thanks for any help or advice in my quest to find the perfect 3SGE Celi :)

Not sure if I could afford the petrol and insurance for a 4.

Can just insure the beams as a GT, cos thats what it is. If you stick a 4 after the GT, the insurance multiplies by 2!

Makes sure you only use 99ron with it. Thats what its designed for, and I think its higher compression, so you really need good fuel. Otherwise you'll get knock, n the ecu will relax the timings.

Just wondering, what is knock? And is it serious?

Cos where I live you can't get anything other than normal 95 octane, so that's what I'll be running it on! Could this be a prob for a beams?

Does anyone know the price of running the car on high octane fuel?

epends on how much you drive, and how you drive it

depends on how much you drive, and how you drive it

Obviously mate

This is what I was asking:

Makes sure you only use 99ron with it.

So what I meant was, in comparison to normal 95, is it more expensive to run with the good stuff?

i.e. Price of a full tank of 95 VS. Price of a full tank of 99RON

Normal fuel is expensive as it is.

hi again, 99 ron (super unleaded) is about 97p per litre near me compared to 93p for 95 ron (normal unleaded) not much realy based on a 10 gallon tank about £2.50 per tank more, Fuel is a lot cheaper in Ireland though

You`ll probably find your mpg will increase slightly with the super dooper stuff. The engine will be working that little bit more efficiently. So it will effectively negate the increased cost. Thats the theory anyway. ;)

So does anyone know if a remap for 95 is possible on one of these high compression engines?

I cant say for definate, but it`s very likely. All a remap will do is slightly !Removed! the ignition. Much the same as the ecu would do anyway if it detected knock. Personally i`d go for running on super if it`s readily available in your area. Not sure how much it would cost to have it remapped but i don`t suppose it would be cheap. I dare say someone will be along who does know the ins and outs. .

Thanks daktari, should be sound then. Yeah, initially I would run it on super if I can find it. But it isn't as easy to find around here as I'd like. Redex would do the job for a while anyway, until I've the cash for a remap.
