Phone Installation

I'm thinking of sticking my nokia cark-91 kit into my D-4D. I'm quite sick of driving with tiny poncy bits of bluetooth plastic sticking out of my ears, they iritate and I feel a right berk at traffic lights.

1) Has anyone experience of wiring one to the standard stereo head unit - is there a mute facility?

2) Where did you site the phone cradle?

3) Any photos?

Cheers

To be honest, in my experience the easiest cheapest and most convenient way to use a Nokia in a car is using one of these... Original Nokia Plug-in HF Car Kit PPH-1

It charges and has a decent hands free mic/speaker.

I found one for £9.99, original and new. If I can find the link I will post it if you are interested.

10p from any Newsagents

Hi.

I had that kit installed in my Bora. The mute facility was just cool. The only downside was that 1. I could only use a Nokia 6210 ( or similar model) phone in that cradle, 2. Lack of phone privacy when there were others in the car. Otherwise it was nice.

You need a bracket from www.dashmount.co.uk

Get an audio lead from there too, and get the correct convertor for the car kit (incartec are good too)

And it all plugs together like childs play.

I could have taken some pics but have just chnaged for a new yaris.

any qs let me know

Excellent, thanks for that.

How did you find the siting of the dashmount bracket? Any problems with passengers hitting it with their knees etc ?

I thought Mr T did a bluetooth kit for the yaris ....... I thought I seen it as one of the options?

It may be a bit expenisve but I assume it would plug into something at the back with little fuss - anybody know?

I have one, but I didn't install it so I'm not sure where the bloke put all of the gubbins and (as he seemed a bit phased by the wiring of the Yaris) the mute function doesn't work on mine.

My phone is to the right of the steering wheel over the pretty-much-useless coin holder with the wiring coming out of of the blank switches. The speaker is diwn in the middle of the centre console in front of the the cupholders and the microphone is up on the ceiling at the top of the driver's side A-pillar.

I'll grab some photos this evening

Alan

PS Have lost count of the number of turns  :D

Just found this Linky

A guide how it is fitted by Mr T ..... Shame I can only find it for the P2 and not P1 :( !

It might also point out to you why the mute function isn't working because the guy at Mr T didn't fit it right ..... but it looks alot of work

That's an interesting link but you have GOT to be joking ... who the **** would go to all that trouble when you could buy a Jabra SP100 for £50 ?

Anyone with an old fashioned 6310i carkit fitted that can help with original questions?

The dashmount fits great and there is a gap behind the plastic moulding at the base of the dash which just pulls off....

It's simple to do!

Also you can get a convertor cradle which will allow you to use a Nokia Pop-Port phone with the CARK-91

This just came up in the GoogleAds at the top of the page...

http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/product/5134.htm

Anyhow, Here are the pics...

Phone-Cradle.jpg

Phone cradle to right of the steeringwheel

Phone Speaker under the dash

.. and the brains behind the trim panel beside the accelerator pedal.

I realised that this is actually a different kit (CK-9W, iirc) but thought the pics might still be useful.

Dave, might give mine just a couple more turns tonight... (and remember to remove it for the service on Saturday!)

Thanks for the photos Alan, I've go lecky mirrors so I'll need to mess about a bit but that's a good location for the phone.

The adaptor for the pop port is cheap too might get one, she has a 6230i and I've got the 6310i and we swap cars a fair bit.
