Hi,

I seem to have developed a clunking sound from my car when i go over bumps (even very small ones) in the road, could be drivers side can't tell for sure?

I had all the wheels off and can't find anything loose and had crawl under car and didn't spot anything, bounced the car up and down few times on all four corners and shocks seem ok and no noise when bounce car, also checked all engine and gearbox mounts and all seem to be secure?

Was wondering if you guys may be able to suggest something i missed?

Regards

Phil.

It will probably be your droplinks or bushings. It's also not heard of for the top mounts to go either...

My money is on the droplinks :)

I found it yesterday evening something completely unexpected, was just looking trying to find it checking the anti roll bar links and noticed to top cap holding the shock absorber into the strut looked little loose and had come undone.

Because I replaced the suspension, the new suspension was inserts the cap holding the insert into the strut had come undone and when went over bump that where the clunk came from, do you think it will have damaged the insert at all, they should be able to stand up to a bit of wear.

Just thinking ought to check all the others, is there any product you can buy to help ensure it stay done up like 'loctite' but a much larger version for cars, to sort of glue it to ensure stays done up but with bit of force can still undo if needed?

Regards

Phil.

 LOL!

There's no need to use substances like locktite if you are using a suitable torque wrench and torqing the cap off to specifications... but it won't do harm. Locktite "Blue" is the best to use

I remember replacing my shocks and had a right time trying to loosen the "caps". I made damn sure they weren't going to come loose.
