My next door neighbour steamed cleaned this Vauxhall car engine on Monday. We saw it being towed home later that night. Have not asked why though !. I personnally would not do it unless you have a good reason to.

I use a damp clith myself, engine off of course, ok i don't get to everything, but it's enough to get rid of water marks and most of the dried dust and muck.

I was very uneasy about steeming engines off, until i sppke to the valater at work who jet washes off most makes of car, Toyota he has never had a problem with, vauxhall, ford and rover have only gotta sniff water and they wont start. When i part ex'ed my old corolla the engine bay was in a right mess after having the engine replaced the dealer had left oil everywhere so there he was jetting away for a good 5 minutes solid jumped and the old girl fired fine. He jet washed my avensis engine when i brought that off them i was like no i'll soap it over like i used to but he goes jet washing away and again jumped in fired up fine. Being a toyota specalist we have a lot of toyotas and he's never had a problem with one in his 10 years of working there. BUT cover up any alarm sirens, cover up dizzy caps also make sure the ecu is coverd up. Once washed off remove bags from coverd objects if any, start up and rev to around 2500 rpm for 30 seconds.
